This book provided an excellent rationale and road map for school leaders who seek to implement PLCs in their schools. I was fortunate to have the opportunity twice in my teaching career to work on campuses who practiced the models outlined in this book. I appreciate that Hord and Sommers did not shy away from discussing the investment of time involved in implementing PLCs. The time commitment up front and the continual training is an investment but the payoff is evident in student learning. Cre ...more
I found the later chapters most useful and would like to find further reading on how to motivate and support change within the school environment. This book, along with Switch by Chip Heath are a great pairing for re-thinking the ways in which we can motivate and support teachers and students in education.
This is the best professional book I've read in awhile. It really reshaped the way I see PLCs. One of my favorite parts: "There is power of life and death in the tongue....Speak life to those who cross your path."
