Don't ask Claire Keyes. The twenty-eight-year-old piano prodigy has never had a regular boyfriend, much less a real romance. Her music career has left little room for friends or family--which is just part of the reason she hasn't seen the family bakery or her two sisters in years. But now Nicole is sick, and Jesse is AWOL. Despite the fact that Claire can't boil water, she'...more

Getting a sneak peek at the first book in a new series by one of my favorite authors is enough to make me do the happy dance (TMI?). I’ve been a big Susan Mallery fan since the first time I picked up one of her books. She seems to have the knack of making the unbelievable, believable. Her stories are sweet, smart, and sexy…and her latest “Sweet Talk” is certainly no exception.

For the first third of this book, I absolutely despised the heroin...more

Claire Keyes seorang pianis terkenal. Kehidupannya terlihat sangat menyenangkan.

Kenyataannya Nicole masih membenci dirinya. Tid...more

C...more

Another one I'm not sure how to rate, even on my 5 star romance scale - it's probably a 3.5 so I'll give it 4. As one might expect from the title, it's a little sticky sweet, but overall enjoyable.

Our heroine is a professional piano player who was torn away from her family including her twin sister at age 6. Her mother went on tour with her and died in a car accident which she survived and her sister Nicole has blamed her ever since. Fsst forward 22 or so years and Nicole has to have her gall b...more

Susan Mallery is a seasoned romance veteran who begins her Bakery Sisters trilogy with "Sweet Talk." The series follows the Keyes sisters who inherit a Bakery from their parents. "Sweet Talk" opens with Claire, who is a world famous pianist and has come home to help her twin sister, Nicole, recuperate from surgery. Claire feels guilty for being absent many years and not being around to help out at the bakery. She uses that guilt as a reason to step in at the Bakery while Nicole is bed ridden dur...more

Susan Mallery is usually a safe read for me as her books are usually pretty light and enjoyable. This one, I had so many issues with. While I liked Claire mostly, I found her to be a doormat. She will do put up with anything in order to gain the approval of her sisters, whom she hasn't seen much of over the years since childhood. Claire left home at the age of 6 as a piano playing prodigy. Claire's mother and grandmother traveled with her at times and when Claire went home, it was very apparent...more

I thought the narrator did a great job with this book, she made me like Claire right from the start, want to throttle Nicole, she needed to get over herself, and hate Jessi, she was so very selfish.

Claire seemed to have an innocence about her. You could tell she would do anything to get her family back and she did. Nicole seemed to shovel so much shit on her and all she could do was talk bad about her. I was happy to see when after a bit Claire found her spine and shouted back at Nicole, she did...more

I loved this book! Read it in record time! I wanted to get to the end so bad. I loved the characters, and their moods and tantrums just made them more 'real". I think I fell in love a little bit with Wyatt! Oh hes so adorable! I think Jess's book will be interesting, and can hardly wait to go read more to find out the outcome with the Drew thing! It was such a lovely beautiful story, with a little girl holding everyone together. Great Reading, and as soon as I'm done with my challenge I'm off to...more

Claire reminds me of those innately shy people that come off as reserved and aloof. But then, you get to know them and you realize they're funny, smart and caring. I really liked her character in this book and liked her relationship with Wyatt, not loved, but liked. I could even understand Nicole though her behavior drove me crazy.

What drove me even crazier was their treatment of Jesse. Claire has been on the receiving end of Nicole's judgement and she still didn't listen to Jesse. The...more

I actually read the second and third book in this series awhile ago, and for some reason this one was always checked out of the library. But I finally nabbed it!

It was a great intro to the series, I had to stop and try to remember all the characters, but Mallery introduced everyone nicely and I fell right back into the plot. Claire in this book was a little annoying. Have you ever known that person that was so selfless and perfect that it made you want to cringe? Well... Claire was that characte...more

Claire was a child prodigy, she was taken away when she was six. Originally her grandmother travelled with her, but eventually her mother took over. At one time the twins were inseparable but through the years, anger, resentment has settled in and now Claire wants to reconnect with her family. One major problem is that Nicole doesn't want anything to do with her, but she needs help, and Claire (at the moment) is the lesser of two evils according to Nicole. Nicole is going through a bad patch, fi...more

This story took me through a myriad of emotions...At the beginning of the book, I hated Nicole and felt so bad for Claire, yet was astounded by how incompetent a 28 y.o was in living amongst "real" people doing everyday things like driving and laundry. Later on I hated Jesse for not grasping why her sisters aren't so easy to forgive and forget... and then Wyatt made me want to throw my ereader across the room too eventually. The only character that consistently made me smile was the child, Amy....more

I've been on a major Susan Mallery kick, and I can't seem to get enough of her books lately. I started with Accidentally Yours and moved on to the Fool's Gold series, and while I was reading Finding Perfect, I realized that one of the main characters was also a part of this series, so it made me all the more anxious to get to the Bakery Sisters series. I took a detour and read the Lone Star Sisters books before starting Sweet Talk.

I was, honestly, a little bit shocked because it was just so hard...more

My Thoughts...

I saw one of the books in this series (there's three books) reviewed on another blog. I was in one of my 'I'm just going to add books to my TBR pile without looking at what I'm doing' moods. So I skimmed the review, checked out my local library and a day later I settled in to read something that didn't involve vampires, werewolves or witches (or anything paranormal in the slightest) for the first time in I don't know how long.

Sweet Talk is the first of the Baker Sister trilogy and...more

I don't know, this book really made me cringe. First off, the sisters were annoying, I couldn't stand either one of them. Nicole was such a bitch and Jesse was so dense. My favorite was Claire by I still her naive self was a bit hard to stand at times. Next was the issue of cheating. While it wasn't happening with the main couple, I didn't like that side storyline going on. I hate cheating and even though I didn't like Nicole, I'm completely on her side. The last thing I have mention was Wyatt....more

I have a soft spot for bakery books and I have been on a serious I love Susan Mallery kick lately. I just didn't get into this book as much as could be expected. I think I just wasn't in the frame of mind to read it. I like the story about 3 sisters since I have two sisters of my own. I love baking. It should have hit home. It just didn't. I will probably read the other two books eventually, it just won't be right away.

I just have to say that Susan Mallery is a really fun Author to read. This is another one of hers that I just found and turned out that I really liked. She has unconventional characters that interact in a way that will have you rolling.

Mallery captures the feelings of a family that is torn apart by their different paths in life and their misunderstandings of each orhers lives. Her characters come together in love, hate, envy, lust, disapointment and greed. She paints a picture in all of her boo...more

First let me clear something, if I had a family like Claire, I would swear not to visit them one hundred years. they were pain in the ass especially the two minute older sister, Nicole who she was stubborn, mule-head and royal bitch. Jesse was a kind of all-the-time-screwed-up sister who's not trying to take responsibility and Wyatt was too good to be true but he fell in love with Claire. I like the way Susan Mallery showed the dark and bitter relationship between sisters. Also, I liked they Cla...more
