I have, admittedly, perhaps read more interesting Hocquard works, but I feel as if I, perhaps, did not give this the attention it deserves. The titular story is interesting, but what follows (which was albeit far "less" of the book in terms of space, I guess), struck me as even more so. I will revisit.
Emmanuel Hocquard (born in 1940 in Cannes) is a French poet who grew up in Tangier, Morocco. He served as the editor of the small press Orange Export Ltd., and, with Claude Royet-Journoud, edited two anthologies of new American poets, 21+1: Poètes américains ď aujourďhui (with a corresponding English volume, 21+1 American Poets Today) and 49+1.
