What can I say, another winner by Cara North (I really like her writing style)! This is the second book in her Country Music Collection, which by the way, the stories have nothing to do with country music except for the titles of the books. This is the second book about one of the Johnson brothers, who own a sprawling horse ranch in Montana. Heath is the brother in question this time, who was a somewhat moody, nasty guy in the previous book, "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off". This book picks ...more

I didn't quite like this one as much as "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off"'s still a fun read, but I liked the other one better.

The basis of the story is the relationship between Heath and Chance. They'd known each other for a while before getting involved. The night of their wedding, Chance took off and stayed gone for a year. Her defection broke Heath's heart. Now Chance is back and she wants to repair relationship with Heath. But to make things work, they have to get pas

It picks up where Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off left off. The only thing that bothered me was that Heath seemed to forgive Chance too quickly. She was gone a year with no contact and sure she had an adequate reason for leaving, but he just seemed more angry in the first book. Maybe it was the grandfather's letter that changed him? Otherwise very enjoyable. I look forward to Rafe and Layla's story.

This is closer to 3.5 than 3, but GR doesn't have half stars. I liked this one, I really did. But I thought when Heath found out about Chance's childhood and asked who the guy was and he was named, I thought that might be significant later, but it wasn't. And I still don't understand why there was a whole year with absolutely no contact. It was definitely sweet that Heath and Chance still had so much chemistry, but he seemed to forgive her awfully quickly. I'm also not sure why they let Chance d ...more

I am really enjoying the “Country Music” Series starring the Montana Johnson Brothers. This book tells the tale of the turbulent romance between Heath Johnson and his estranged wife, Chance. (It took me a bit to get use to Chance as a girl’s name.) Heath is the older, very jaded brother from Book 1, who is down on love. You can’t really blame him for being bitter, as his bride ran out on him on their wedding night a year old. Well, Chance is back in town and ready to be Mrs. Johnson again. It se ...more

4.25 out of 5. Pain in relationships is a common thread throughout most romance fiction, but how can two people heal a rift in their relationship that occurs before the marriage has opportunity to begin? So it is with Heath and Chance, star-crossed lovers with an on-again-off-again history, and who must now face the consequences of their choices. Learning to listen, learning to accept one's own defects, and learning that deeper truths are never really obvious, can be important lessons in putting ...more

Well, although I love him as the story continues and crossed my fingers to have him happy in the end,
I really think that the problems they had wouldn't be managed like that for me. But, that's what happens when you don't have any sort of dialogue in a relationship. The story is short, but very entertaining and I had a good time reading it . It's my favorite in the series.
The thing is: Heath, keep your beard on and I have some cookie to you ;)

I absolutely love this story. I love that there were no games being played in this book. Both characters stated from the onset they screwed up and wanted to right their wrong (well almost from the beginning). Did they have issues to work through? Yes! Did they make mistakes here and there? Yes!

This book was all about love and forgiveness. Not just between husband and wife, but between family, as well. Everyone should takea few notes from this book and apply it when need be.

Well done, Cara.

Ok, really? She left you for a year and you've been mad at the world and everyone in it, yet when she returns, everything's just hunky dory. Heath was so angry in the first book, it just seemed like he let go of most of the anger for the most part. Sure, he still didn't trust her completely, but was willing to overlook that for the hot sex. A little unbelievable, but nice to see a happy ending.

It was okay. Agree with another reader that Heath seems to have just asked for her attacker's name and done nothing with it...hope that he inacts his retribution in some way in the following books. This was over too quickly compared to the first book, but pretty dramatic.

I really liked this book. The characters in this series so far are so easy to relate to. Great book.
