Damn good book. Probably one of those books most people never finish, simply cause it is really not easy, but worth every sentence. You dont need to have the same opinion as the robot who is interviewed, but it is really good to just get a hint at thinking a bit for yourselve and for admiring Lem, if you havent already. ...more

Anfangs vielversprechend

I would not be surprised if most people put it away after the first chapter (could it be a witty filter designed by Lem to save everyone's time?). I would not be surprised if half of those who have reached the Golem's lectures close the book forever as well. Nevertheless, I am sure that for some people including me this is one of the best books ever written. It resonated so deeply with my mind and my soul that I do not think I have ever 'recovered'. As I submitted to all its hopelessness and emp ...more

One of the best books to reflect upon ourselves as human beings and explore thoughts about the mind and being rational further.

Stanisław Lem (staˈɲiswaf lɛm) was a Polish science fiction, philosophical and satirical writer of Jewish descent. His books have been translated into 41 languages and have sold over 27 million copies. He is perhaps best known as the author of Solaris, which has twice been made into a feature film. In 1976, Theodore Sturgeon claimed that Lem was the most widely read science-fiction writer in the w ...more
