Featuring gas prices at ten dollars a gallon in 2013, this book was a semi-realistic read as gas prices are rising now in 2008. I found the characters very interesting, and yet found myself not satisfied with the character development. One of the supporting characters, Paula, was having marital problems since she didn't want kids and her husband did. Then, all of a sudden she was pregnant, and I felt this development wasn't explored at all. The resolution to the conflicts between the government...more
I learned very much about the people who I live among that are affectionately called "Swamp Yankees".
I loved the character development and the relationships in this book. The depiction of the Swamp Yankee lifestyle was on the money. And the plot kept me reading and turning the page.
