This is my favorite of all the "What to Expect" books. It informs you on good nutrition during your pregnancy. It also provides lots of easy tips and recipes on how to get the most nutritional foods. It also has recommendations on the things to eat while trying to conceive. I followed the recommendations of this book pretty closely, and I've had a very healthy pregnancy, gaining only the "minimum" acceptable weight, with no nutritional deficiencies, no problems with Gesta...more

The main trouble with this edition of this book is the strictness of the diet they expect pregnant women to follow. Having a bagel for a "once a week" treat is not remotely realistic, especially at a time when many women have food aversions and cravings. There is some solid information in this book, but it is overshadowed by the guilt-inducing diet.

I did try a couple of the recipes; one was okay, the other was an unmitigated disaster.

I believe there is an updated, more re...more

This book had some great information in it that has influenced my diet for the better during my pregnancy. However, the diet recommended in the book is WAY to strict. It's pretty much deemed as evil if you touch your lips to any refined grains or processed sugar. Some of the recipes are pretty good. Not a book to read if you don't want to feel guilty about having a doughnut or ice cream every once in a while during pregnancy.

I think this is the worst of all 'what to expect' books. Fist of all it is very complicated and tiring. Secondly the book continuously repeats itself. Lastly and most importantly it is not applicable if you are not alien! Normally I am cruel in my ratings but I don't recommend that series to anyone especially the mom-to-bes'.

This book has the least turned back pages or spine crease on my pregnancy bookshelf. It is, I hate to admit, a worthless read if you have completed "What to Expect..." by the same authors. The recipes are generic (but easy enough for your partner to manage) and have few veggie options. Save your money and check this one out at the library.

This book was way too strict. I intended to eat well during pregnancy, but the fact is, you get sick, stuff happens...you do what you can. In an ideal world teh book might be helpful, but in actuality I think it is more likely to make pregnant women feel guilty for not being perfect.

If you can follow this book then you are a better person than I. I believe that pregnancy is the time to eat like a cow since you look like one any way. And that my friends is the philosophy that has caused me to need to lose all this weight!

Wow. I received this as a "gift". It seemed only to mock my raging morning sickness. Even if I wasn't nauseous all the time, only someone who has no children and doesn't work could have the time to eat this way every single day.

Honestly I was too sick to try making any of the recepies listed in this, but it still had a ton of great information that promoted a good, healthy pregnancy. A helpful read and resource for any conscientious mother-to-be.

I tend to Pre-read these books, so I finished this book well before I moved to Germany. It is interesting and informative, but it shouldn't be your sole reference on the subject. Though it gives a good overview.

Book Rating: G I thought this book was a really great book and an awesome idea. Although, because of morning sickness, I couldn't even stomach reading the recipes... lol.

The diet in this book was pretty strict it just took too much thought. The info was helpful, but I didn't use it all and I didn't try any of the recipes.

This book had great recipe ideas, which were delicious. It was a great overview on what to avoid and what you actually need to eat during pregnancy.

This book made me angry. Incredibly patronizing toward Vegetarians. Very much of the "You have to drink milk to make milk" school. BLECK!

I appreciated this book because it gave me something to aim for, but was unrealistic as far as what really to eat day-to-day.

Great recipes if your pregnant or not. Great tips on portion size to prevent packing on 80 pounds with a pregnancy.
