I really dislike the whole idea about labeling a book "Step 1, ready to read" and then seeing difficult vocabulary in the book. It is confusing for first-time Moms trying to teach their kids to read. These books are not for young early readers to actually pick up and read. At least this is my opinion. If the publishers actually think a beginner reader will understand two vowel combinations, consonant blends, compound words and long vowel words they are mistaken.
