Recommends it for: Musicians, music historians, musicologists
This is a very detailed account of the music of the Baroque period, concentrating on not only the composers and music of the time but also the politics of Europe at the time and the production of music during that time period. The text is very detailed and well researched with a full index and pictures of the composers, period instruments and maps of Europe that show travel routes and other important details.
