Baru sampe hal 478, tapi bawaannya makin berat utk menyelesaikannya. Namun J More...

I understand the need for romance writers to make their heroines more appealing to the 21st century reader, but it's a mistake for them to do so. Too many times, romance writers make their heroines promiscuous, and it is just not believable in an historical time frame. Meg is supposed to have been raised in a strict society home and life, and yet she has had many affairs while still being an unmarried young woman. It turned me off. I enjoy the chase and seduction theme as much as the next person More...

I like Feather as an author. She knows that romance readers are looking for a particular storyline, but she is willing to use the romance genre to tell good tales that keep her readers interested until the end.

Meg Barrett is an unusual woman for her time (and for most regency romances). She is not intending to marry, she has had lovers and plans to have more. However, as the story starts her life is a bit dull. Good, but maybe boring.

When Meg wakes up on a ship at sai More...

Awalnya nih crita bagus..

Sempet ngebut mpe pertengahan, until malam pertama mereka.MP mreka menurutku cukup aneh dan membuatku bertanda tanya.I mean,Meg emg cuman gadis desa,tp bukan berarti dia cewe gampangan. Then to conclusion wkt MP ma Cosimo seharusnya dia masih V,but how come Cosimo doesnt bring it up?

Berdasarkan novel HR yg saya baca seharusnya Hero-nya bakal 'dikit' surprise dapatin cewe yg keliatannya uda expert banget (since Meg cepat kale memutuskan bobok ma dia) More...

Much like most of Jane Feather's books I found that it was a quick enjoyable book. To get the full story of the main character Meg you need to read Almost a Bride. I enjoyed watching the full spirited Meg find a life outside of her families country estate. Meg is anything but conventional, and it would be a shame to see her settle for anything less than an adventure. This is your typical fictional historical romance. It could never happen in real life, but isn't that the point of reading these t More...

No chemistry between Meg and the silly named boat captain, Cosimo. She wants a fling. He wants sex with the intent of using her for intrigue that I could have cared less about. I skimmed the last part and couldn't get any sense of how he "fell" in love with her. And thee illusive Ana? Wasn't even a good foil to magnify any jealousy.

A privateer/spy/assassin accidentally ends up with a sassy redhead on board his ship. They plot together to assassinate Napoleon while falling in love, traipsing about Provence and Burgundy.

Enjoyable stuff, particularly for francophiles. The food descriptions made me hungry.

Fun read.

The middle to nearly the end of the book was decent in that is was fast paced and more action oriented, however the beginning was somewhat forced like she was pushing a pen across paper without any joy or sparkle. The plot sounded exciting, but could have been executed better. It wasn't a bad book per say, but it seemed somehow lacking especially in the beginning. I can't say I was totally satisfied with the ending, just as I was put off some in the beginning by the writing. The author's word ch More...

It started out well, decent character development. But the historical inaccuracies were atrocious. And when the characters gave into their lust 1/3 of the way through, the tension was gone, so I stopped reading. Not a huge fan.

This book was so weird. It was so unrealistic I might place it in my fantasy section. Still, the sex was good. That counts for something.

Not as good as the first one. Meg nya terlalu bebas, masa jalan2 ke mana2 naik kapal, keluarganya gak dipikirin, cuman ngirim surat pake merpati doang

It wasn't a classic or even close to being a favourite but it was a good read for what it was.

This is the 2nd book in the Almost Series; we are first introduced to Meg in Almost a Bride the friend of the main character. This story was just as boring as the first book. Meg is taken aboard a ship by mistake while she is unconscious. The book lacks for me any passion between Meg and the captain Cosimo and storyline, which is the main reason for reading. This book is a total dude, and I would never recommend.[return][return]http://historicalromancemel.blogspot.com/

Resolution? What resolution? Instead, we come to a stopping point and simply...stop. I'm almost grateful I didn't come to like any of the characters, otherwise I think I'd be utterly infuriated that I didn't actually find out what happens to them. Or, for that matter, who some of them are.
