After finishing Sliding Home a couple of days ago and loving it, I decided to start from the beginning and read this series in order. I was a little sceptical about how well the first book of the series would pan out, because sometimes it takes an author a couple of books to hit their stride with a series. But not so with Kate Angell--I think she hit a home run with this one right out of the batter's box! I just loved everything (okay, maybe 99%) about this one! Her style is so easy, breezy, and More...

3 ½ stars – Contemporary/Sports Romance
This is a cute, light, easy, upbeat read with quirky, fun characters, lots of humor, and three spicy, sweet romances going on all at once for a ‘bases are loaded’ treat!

August 5, 2008 - SQUEEZE PLAY is one of those fun feel-good books that you just can't help but enjoy. A fun story, great characters, and baseball. It doesn't get much better than that.
Risk and Jacy are perfect for each other. They have wonderful chemistry, a sweet and tender friendship, and they obviously care deeply for one another. It's nice to see a book in which the characters have realistic views of themselves and their relationships. Risk and Jacy are unusual among romance novel leads in t More...

Even though it has some weaknesses, I found it a pleasant, enjoyable and fun baseball romance.
STORY BRIEF:
This is the first of several books about the Richmond Rogues baseball team. This book includes three interspersed short stories about three baseball players and the women they end up with.
Risk, Jacy, Stevie and Aaron grew up in Frostproof, Florida. When Jacy was a junior in high school, her boyfriend broke up with her shortly before the prom. Risk (a senior) saw her crying on the bleachers. More...

The Main Story of Risk and Jacy was a breath of fresh air for me, it wasn't the typical "had always been friends and were perfect for each other" story for me. I loved they thought of not themselves but each other first.
The second story line between Stevie and Zen however stole the glory from Rick and Jacy. Zen it for me, I mean I loved that guy. I mean he had everything going for me and them some. Stevie was a girl who won my heart over as well because I could relate so well with issues and be More...

If you're easily frustrated by miscommunications and/or holding out love confessions, then this is not the book for you. Don't read this if you are one or both of the above.
The characters were alright. I love Jacy and Risk, I love them more together. But I was annoyed at how long they prolonged each of their confessions. I hate Aaron and Nathalie. I still don't like them. Even if they had a happy ending, it wouldn't be hard to guess that in real life, they wouldn't last long. I liked Zen and Ste More...

I have recently fallen in love with books with sports themes.
I must say. This one did NOT let me down. It was witty funny and hot.
It features two couples Risk and Jacy, who have been "rebound lovers" since high school. The theory of a rebound lover intrigues me. A best friend that comes and gives great sex and comfort after every heartbreak. With out the awkwardness. It works out great, until you realize you have always been in love with the other person and make up break ups to get them home. More...

Quick thought: It was a light, fun-fluffy read. Overall 3.5 stars (maybe rounding up a little more because I liked the t-ball team so much)
Small rant: I had a hard time with the 12 years of hooking up.
I mean, come one… after about two I would be pulling out my hair and jumping the dude.
But ok, I’ll go with it. I’ll get behind the fact that they’ve both been pining away for each other… been hooking up throughout it… and that he’s a fine-ass, rich baseball player but has barely looked at anyone More...

I loved this book! Even though it didn't go into as much detail as I'd liked it was still great. I loved how it took 3 different relationships and made them connect together.
I enjoyed the different characters and how they fit in with the story, but I didn't like some of them. If you get me...
Jacy and her sense of style made me laugh because it was so out there. None of the books I've read have had a character like Jacy and that's what I think I loved most.
Risk- OH MY GAWD!!! He was the sexy bad More...

This is my first time reading this author. This book was fun, face-paced, and had great side plots. Sounds like a great start to a fun series.
Richard "Risk" Kincaid has been the "rebound" guy for Jacy Grayson since high school. Little does he know that she hasn't had a real boyfriend break up with her for some time. Trying to find the right time and p More...

I almost gave this book 4 stars because I really did enjoy the breezy style and fun characters. I especially appreciated how Ms. Angell got her two lover together without resorting to them being mean to each other first. It seems common among romance writers to have their characters treating each other like crap as a way of providing the conflict in the story. Ms. Angell manages to avoid that trap. Unfortunately, she did fall into the "if they'd only be honest with each other there would be no s More...

Loved it! It's about baseball, so of course, I grabbed it right up. Overall, it was a fun, hot, emotional read. I loved that there was more than one romantic storyline going on at once. Since we knew right away that the main characters were into each other already, it was nice to have some romantic turmoil from the secondary characters.
I loved the baseball trivia smattered throughout the book. I loved seeing the players interact in the offseason, and I can't wait to get to know some of them bet More...

With a cast of zany characters, great chemistry, the promise of two happily-ever-afters, and enough laughs to give me a six-pack, Kate Angell successfully pulled me into Squeeze Play and wouldn’t let me go! The Richmond Rogue’s have a new fan, and I can’t wait to continue with the series.

Grade: D for lot of eye-rolling and some major ::HEADDESK::ing.
This started out as a One-Quote Review, and then four hours later I found myself in the throes of a Full Snark Bitchfest.

You’re damn right I am. Also, if you give me
cake to relax, it better not be made of Ivory Soap.
If you read the whole epic rant, you’ll see why. But here's a few teasers as evidence of my very-much-in-the-minority low grade on this.
I have two positive things to say about this book:
(1) It was only 99 cents.

Review from busymomsbookrevies.com
This book was a quick entertaining read. Risk in the male lead in the story, he is a baseball player who comes back to finally marry the female lead Jacy. Risk and Jacy grew up together and Jacy has always loved Risk, she goes to him every time a man "breaks her heart". Risk has always been there for her and he has loved her for awhile. Risk is sexy and funny without trying to hard. Jacy is quirky and adorably klutzy. There escapades and fights range from the mu More...

This was a cute, contemporary sports romance. Actually it was like 3 romances in one. Jacy & Risk are ostensibly the main couple, but their story didn't really grab me. I liked them both and sometimes they were fun together but they were a little frustrating too as they really only needed to have one conversation to move on with their relationship. Aaron and Natalie are the third couple, you don't really get much depth from them and their relationship quite frankly, strikes me as a little un More...

Squeeze Play is kind of the story of three couples. Risk and Jacy who are afraid to admit their love of each other. Natalie and Aaron who are slightly disturbing. Rather, Natalie is disturbing and Aaron is confused. Then theirs Zen and Stevie. Stevie has self-concious issues but Zen helps her to overcome them. Zen had a relationship with Natalie and was thus traded to Risks baseball team when he broke up with her. Zen and Stevie seem really good together.

Well I don't know what to say about this one, I feel like it earned 3 stars by the skin off its teeth... I liked the story of Jacy & Risk the main characters a lot... But I liked the story of Zen & Stevie 2 side characters even more... However this book lost a star because I hated the 3 couple Aaron & Natalie so so much, the fact that there were pages wasted on them frustrated me to no end!! Natalie was a super bitch and Aaron was an unfeeling inconsiderate moron!!! The second star t More...

Not a bad read. I find the first book of a series is usually harder for me to get attached to the characters, due to the fact that the authors throws in all the characters for the following books. This was a fun, light read that had me laughing and smiling at times. The part I really didn't care for was that there were three couples I had to get to know. I wouldve loved if Angell focused on one or two couples. Also her descriptions on baseball and golf were so detailed, I couldve cared less for More...

The book was disappointing. The story of the main couple was boring. They loved each other and could have been more than just casual lovers years ago if they just talked to each other. No conflict there whatsoever.
The second love story wasn't much better. Stevie was insecure and had little character. I never got why she was so hung up about her ex, since he is a complete wimp. She is supposed to have been in love with him since she was twelve or so, but she manages to forget him over the course More...

Okay, this book was awesome.
Risk has always been Jacy's rebound lover, but now he wants a more permanent position in her life. With plans to make that happen he kidnaps his teammate Zen and heads back home to Frostproof, FL. Some speedbumps occur, that put his plans on hold. Until, jealously makes the words fly out of his mouth.
Jacy lost her virginity to Risk prom night, and there has been no man since. Clinging to the lies of other men she decides that's how to keep Risk in her life, as a reb More...

I'll try to keep it short and sweet, otherwise I'll ramble and we'll be here all day. So, first of all, Risk = HOTNESS, Zen = Hotness, Jacy = Funky and wild, Stevie = Adorable, Natalie = Freaky. Each character has their own distinct personalities, there's fun to be had and giggles abound.
A few cringe worthy moments and plenty of grin worthy scenes. While the main story was focused on Risk and Jacy the two side stories were interesting in and of themselves. All-in-all it was a really good read, More...

Fast-paced, fun, a tiny bit twisted, and the first book in a long time with side stories that captivated as much as these did.
Though completely forgettable, as an escape from reality it was pretty much satisfying all around...
...And then comes the ending.
sigh
Maybe it's the hopeless romantic in me, but after dragging and stalling "the moment" through over three hundred pages I was expecting something a little less rushed and a little more, I don't know, moving. "My body loves your body..." Dude, More...

Cute love stories. All of them. But each of them had their own flavor.
Risk and Jacy were rebound lover who secretly loved each other, but were never able to say it. I figured that there should have been more reasons why they didn't want to say anything until now, 12 years later. Still, it was light and cute.
Zen and Stevie, Stevie is still stuck in the past, while Zen is there to help her move on and love her. They use trivia as a means to flirt. In the entire book, they had to do the most work More...
