I think its one of the best books by Steele!
She wonderfully tells the story of 3 sisters who are separated due to unfortunate events and misgivings. The only qualm I had was that it would have been even more amazing had the story of Sam Walker ans Solange not stretched so long. But after all that, the story is just fantastic and does justice to its title - Kaleidoscope, where things change with the blink of an eye.

The book does an absolute justice to its title- Kaleidoscope, things change with the blink of an eye. Danielle Steele once again manages to take her readers by surprise. The book is full of unexpected twists and turns which leaves the readers breathless gasping for more...
As Sam Walker returned home from war with a beautiful wife, Solange, nobody not even they themselves could have ever foreseen what life held ahead for them. They had three beautiful daughters, Hillary, Alexandria and Megan. Wit...more
Membaca buku ini bagaikan naik roller-coaster. Naik, turun, naik, turun lagi. Naik-turunnya kehidupan yang terjadi pada sebuah keluarga. Dan semuanya terjadi dengan cepat. Wew.
Lalu...more

I saw the movie for this book on KVZK tv in American Samoa back in the 90's? Anyway, it starred Jaclyn Smith. Okay the book was far better and more detailed. Three sisters separated in their childhood after their parents destroyed themselves. Now they are all successful and grown and an old friend/ enemy? of theirs hires an investigator to bring them all back together for a family reunion. The oldest, Hilary, has a secret that will shatter this reunion for all of them. It was a great book, espec...more

Suddenly orphaned, their three children are cruelly separated. Megan, the baby, adopted by a family of comfortable means, becomes doctor in the rural Appalachia. This book for me bought with it many memories of my childhood, a roller coaster of emotions flooded me on every single page. I spent the first part in awe, and the sadness followed with shock, surprise and down right grief. The horror's to which her characters faced still have me at edge finding myself living as first, Solange, then her child Hilary, I could hardly bare it. A book not for the light at heart. But a great book all the very same.

This is one of my favourite books by Danielle Steele... Was actually getting bored of her writing style when I stumbled upon this one.
But once I started it,I was totally engrossed into the way its story was enfolding, it being so gripping and heart wrenching at times that i could finally keep it down only once I had read the happy ending it so truly deserved.
A story of three girls left to be on their own when their actor father kills his pretty wife and commits suicide himself.

Kaleidoscope revolves around three sisters, Hilary, Alexandra, and Megan, who were separated while they were still kids. In my opinion, the whole plot revolves around the life of Hilary and her depressing and solitary existence while the other two main characters – Alexandra and Megan – were just add-ons to make the story more cohesive. It was supposed to be touching and emotional but I do not find it powerful enough to move me to tears. I understand Hilary’s bitterness and anger, all that hate...more
I think this is a new record, 419 pages in about 14 hours. I figured about 4-4.5 hours of reading time. This book was great also, another one of hers that just sucks you right in. This one was a little different. It wasn't as much as a love story as some of the others. It started out that way but it got very dark and depressing, the ending was good but it still left you hungry for more. You wanted to see what happened with the three sisters. This was made into a movie also, I'll have to try to g...more

How I Came To Read This Book: Gillian owned it I believe.
The Plot: I vaguely remember this book being about 3 sisters - I mostly remember the quiet, naive one that grew up in the mountains and how the oldest one had a hellacious life and some sort of Danielle Steelesque romance with the detective she hires to find her sisters.
The Good or Bad: Steel, like her contemporaries in the mass market genre, is a master at creating a gripping, fantastical portrayal of the everyday. In other words, she's g...more

I really enjoyed this book. Read it years back.
The plot is very interesting, about 3 sisters who are separated when little and each of them lives a very different life than the other, and when they grow up they find each other and its amazing to see how completely DIFFERENT they are. The book sort of shows the nature vs nurture debate.
The book is also in very simple language and easy to read. Keeps you glued till the end!

this is just another one of danielle steels extreme writings.istill hate th fact tht she makes evrythng seem so black and white.buh wel atleast i lykd ths one well enuff to mek a review.the story is sad ofcos bt from pg1 enroute...which i also found very refreshing.only at the end wen the sistas finally reunite somehow ol th pieces a supposed to b pieced bk togethr buh t dnt feel tht way at ol.i tried to listen so hard for tht waving flag of victory o to feel for th happines tht th oldest sista...more
Read this book back in 9th grade...which was a loooong time ago...but it's the only Danielle Steel book I remember really liking. I picked up one of her recent ones Big Girl today at the store since I haven't read anything by her in years....read some reviews and now I'm afraid it was a waste of money....will give it a try just for kicks...as I think I out-grew this author back in my teens.
The first Danielle Steel book i ever read! And i was only 13! Even then, i was captivated by her writing style, and i fell instantly in love....a few years later i got to read it again, this time with a more mature understanding, and i was just as captivated, if not more so. I have read many more of her books after! A true gifted writer indeed!!
This book was given to me as a gift from my aunt. Since it was given to me I could t put it down!!! I loved it more over the movie... Visually I saw it unfold like a movie... This book brought tears. It's incredible, the way Daniel Steel gave great emotions and strength in characters that we can all relate too!!! Awesome book!!'
The book Kaleidoscope was one of the best books I have ever read. It was about a family of 3 girls that got separated, but only the oldest remembers their past. She is willing to do anything to find her 2 little sisters, and she does do everything she can.
You should read this book if you like just any good book. The book itself has a little sense of adventure and is sort of sad in it's own way. One thing I love about the book is how it goes through each persons view of their life and how each...more

such an outstanding novel with so much sincere and authentic feelings and emotions. yet the tremendous amount of tragedy inherent makes us
believe that despite all the calamities that life can sometimes so callously render upon us, life can take us towards a new path, a new beginning full of hope and happiness again...

If a book can make me cry for three days straight, I give it 5 stars. I'd never read any of her books bc all you ever hear is how smutty they are. This had some of that, but no more than Kite Runner or A Thousand Splendid Suns. Definitely not a feel good book, but heart wrenching and I couldn't put it down.

| Danielle Steel Bo...: Kaleidoscope | 1 | 1 | Nov 20, 2012 03:24am |
Since 1981, Ms. Steel has been a permanent fixture on the New York Times hardcover and paperback bestseller lists. In 1989, she was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having at least one of her books on the Times bestseller list for 381 consecutive weeks. But Guinness was premature. The fact is that one or more of Ms. Steel's novels have been on the New York Times bestseller list for...more
