Philosophy is heavy and painstaking to read with proper attention. That said, Wright has something new to say - he suggests, to my reading, that the birth of religion is implicit in the coming to consciousness of the human race. How would we make sense of the world and survive without instinct? Something like it, which he calls "faith" - perhaps just a belief among the members of a new species that everything will be OK - may define us and the way we understand our world - in spite of all the ...more

I give it 3 stars for the small portion I read (and genuinely enjoyed).

I couldn't read this text cover to cover, the language is too stilted for that, but it touches on ideas I'm interested in when it comes to language so I will hold onto and browse every so often.
