I am in no way a commie, but this is one of the best methodologies for explaining evolution in historical economies.

An interesting collection of arguments/essays on Marxist economic history. First book I've read in this style and about this kind of subject, and it was definitely a learning experience. It took a while to get through because it was so dense and full of vocabulary that I didn't understand.
