Dominican theologian Aidan Nichols has written an excellent exposition of the theology and historical development of the Church's understanding of the Eucharist. Beginning with the New Testament, Nichols traces the growth of the Church's understanding of this Sacrament of Sacraments, showing how patristic, medieval, and modern theologians have contributed to our understanding of Eucharistic doctrine. Highly recommended.
