Straightforward, detailed and thorough non-fiction for early school-age children. What's especically nice is that it's small enough for the child to slip in a pocket and carry on a trip to a New England beach.
This book could be used for an animal or environment awareness study or for a writer's workshop around Mother's Day. The story follows seal Pup as he goes through a typical day growing up with the help of his mamma.

Great non-fiction book told in a fiction way. This story follows a seal pup as he grows up with the help of his mother. Wonderful descriptions and illustrations. Great for teaching about sea mammals!
This would be a great book to read to students when entering a section on sea animals. I think this book is suitable for children grades 1-2.
