The heroine is a scientist who has been working on a hypothetical cure for the hypothetical changes the body undergoes to become a hypothetical vampire. Yeah, that's a lot of hypotheticals. I'm sure getting funding for something like that would be even more 'hypothetical'.

Although the novel has a promising premise - it's not often you see a vampire wanting to give up eternity in lieu of another shot at being mortal, and to die a natural death - it falls a bit flat for me on two points. Firstly, though Phelan's writing is of a high standard, I feel her editor could have taken a bit more of a firmer hand to rein in some of the flowery prose and cliched phrases. Susan Phelan was born in the land of the Aurora Borealis and grew up loving the mysterious multi-colored lights that shimmer and shift across the night skies of Alberta.

She started writing in grade school where her love of suspense and the paranormal began to develop.

She lives in Alberta with her love Louis and their beloved pets, Tess and Abby.
