“…Dusty’s heart panged a twinge with she saw the bullwhip strapped to the saddle of one of the horses tied to the corral fence. “Why today?” she wondered. Why was her memory tarrying on a young cowhand from five years ago?

…Well…now,” a deep, masculine voice said from behind her, “if it ain’t Miss Dusty Britches!”

Dusty felt the color drain from her face…felt the blood see...more

Okay! This ties as my top favorite with The Visions of Ransom Lake!! This was one of the last I picked to read of Marcia's.. something about the title, I didn't think I'd like this book very much, but now that I've read the book, I also like the title, and I LOOOOVVVVVED the story!! Some reviews say they didn't like all the flashbacks or were uncomforatable with how young Dusty was. I have to say the flashbacks were my favorite parts of the whole book. I thought they were neccessary to understan...more

I loved this book! It is a "romance novel" and to be honest, I usually try and stay away from those. My sister-in-law brought a few books over for me to read and I fell in love with this one. I read it in less than 24 hours. It is a quick, easy read and purely for entertainment. But it was fun and cute. And the kissing is PERFECT! I've since read a few more of her books and have liked all of them. (This one being my favorite so far. I would read it again!) McClure is a "romance" writer but inste...more

Another one of my favorites. Dusty Britches is a great character. A good, funny and romantic story. Love this author!

I just couldn't get into this one. For one thing, Dusty and her sister Becca whine. It actually uses the word whine multiple times. So they're unappealing from the start. What is hard for me about McClure's books is that the girls are always, always, always in the wrong. They're always apologizing. Their feelings are wrong. Their words are wrong. They're just always coming off looking stupid next to the manly male.

The other problem I have is that abuse is supposed to be sexy. Over and over we se...more

With the approach of Valentine's Day I find my heart in the mood for some refreshing tender romances that pluck at the heartstrings. I sometimes long for those days of growing up in fresh country air, with the sun spreading around me in that late afternoon golden tint, when life was slower, less busy, and one could find themselves lost in an evening of basking in the dying light of the day. I'm quickly learning that when my heart desires to find those nostalgic places of home and hearth that I o...more

Just finished this one! Sadly my Marcia challenge or as I love to call it my pilgrimage is coming to an end! I am almost through all of her books! Unless you count her ebook which sadly I can't buy at this point in my life being a poor college student! haha as much as I would love to pay 4 dollars I have to think: food and rent or reading? Thank you libraries for being free :) ANYWHO Marcia needs to write faster because I have found myself adoring her books! Dusty Britches was definitely up ther...more

Okay. I know I should be humiliated to admit that I love a book called Dusty Britches, but it's so good that I don't care if you make fun of me! This might be my favorite of all the "Marcia" books. It is a early west cowboy story. This was one of the last her books that I read, because I had too much pride for the likes of "Dusty Britches", however even though I didn't think it would be the kind of setting I would enjoy, I loved it! The great thing about her stories is that the men are MEN, gent...more

great fast read about how the heart can be hurt and then turn cold in order to keep it from getting broken again. This is what happened to Angelina, or "Dusty Britches" as she is called by one of the ranch hands,Ryder after falling on her bottom repeatedly when younger and haling in the kid table. When Ryder came to work at Dusty's father's ranch she was 10 years old and Ryder was 16. They formed a close bond of friendship. Ryder usually helping her escape one scape after another, but he formed...more

This book has an interesting twist to it in that it involves not 1 but 3 relationships all in the same family. I enjoyed the story but found it hard to get too caught up in it considering that their love started when Dusty was still just a little girl.

Dusty Britches was a really good book and I enjoyed it a lot. Usually it takes me a while to finish a book but i finished this one in about two or three days. My sister gave me this book to read and i didn't think that it was going to be very good, I was wrong. It took me a while to get into this book; however once I got into it I was hooked. This book is 263 pages long and it was written by Marcia Lynn McClure. Dusty Britches was published in 2003.

Dust is a nineteen year old young women who has...more

If you've never read any of her books, SHAME ON YOU! She is fantastic! Her writing is clean with some very good kisses and the romance is outstanding! She has written a ton of books and of the many I have read, I've enjoyed every one! I find I prefer the historic ones, but I love all of them! Anyway, this one actually has three romances in it! I know, a three-for-one, fantastic! It is how a whole family finds love! The main female character Angelina (known as Dusty) and her sister Becca and her...more

I liked this book it was a fun romance with a spunky main character nursing a grudge over a broken heart - who hasn't been there before? I liked this main character better than many of the other heroines by this author, Dusty, was strong and had a back bone. I also really liked that there are two other love stories going on in the story as well.

A fun, clean, read for lovers of romance.

I absolutely LOVED this book!!! It was her best work!!!! i loved it. i didn't like the fact that feller is 30 and becca is 17 but he is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....cute to her. and miss raynetta. oh she is a charlotte freeman no doubt. and that is a good thing. she is so full of life and it's so fun.

Angelina Hunter was in love twice. Well, truth to be told, she was definitely in “love” once. The other time she was in “like”. Not too long ago she was engaged to Cash Richardson, and he hurt her real bad. Bad enough to swear off men forever. That is until Ryder Maddox made his presence known one day after Angelina’s daddy, Hank, came home driving his newly acquired herd of cattle. She knew that the sound of that whip rounding up that herd was familiar. There’s only one person that could handle...more

I have read several books by this author and I have loved them all so far. This has to be my favorite.
Dusty has been hurt by two men in her life. She has cut off men and doesn't want a romance. Ryder was the first person she has a crush on and being several years older wanted to protect her. When he left the ranch he took her heart with him. In the 5 years he was gone another man the bankers son came calling on Dusty and they ended up engaged, but it feel through after she seen some bad things...more

I just loved this book. It was one of the first of Marcia Lynn McClure's that I read. It's totally cheesy in a way, but great. If you are in the mood for a cute, clean, romantic story...then this is a must read.
Alisa
Marcia Lynn McClure is the queen of writing clean romance! And this happens to be my favorite one of her books. When I'm in the mood for a good romance, I love to re-read this book!

Marcia is one of my favorite authors and this is my very favorite book she has written up to this point! I love the old west and when you combine it with a love story it's even better!
Rachel
I love this one too!!! There are times when I want to simply slap the heroine and yell at her not taking what is so obviously hers. But I love it.

This is my other favorite "take me in your arms and kiss me book." Sometimes you just gotta love a good romance!
Kristen
I loved this book! If you've never read any of her novels and love romances, you'll absolutely LOVE her!

I've wanted to read a Marcia Lynn McClure book since I heard of the reputation she has for writing very clean romance books but have hesitated because they have not been released for the kindle. I finally gave in and ordered a paper book with my last Amazon order (since I had free shipping anyway :0) and was not disappointed. Dusty Britches was a light, fun, romantic read with not just one romance but three going on at the same time. I was slightly annoyed with the overuse of the pet names like...more

This is the first one of her works I have read and the things I look for...entertainment, a solid story, and real people all seemed to be rolled into one. I thought she did a good job and it was very entertaining.

There was more self introspection than I usually want to waste my time reading...and I have to admit that it got to a point when she went into that self improvement mode, I skipped it and didn't bother. It appeared to be more of the same that was said a little differently each time, yet...more

This is my favorite Marcia McClure book yet. I couldn't put it down for long. I loved that Ryder and Angelina had a wonderful childhood together. It made their relationship that more sweet in my eyes. The activities they participated in at the 4th of July picnic and the talks they shared at the falls made me giggle and smile a bit too wide. There were a half dozen swear words and a fairly gross physical attack between some men. I'm going to rate this for 16 and up since the kisses in this book a...more

Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marcia Lynn McClure grew up influenced by the reminiscent stories of rugged, rural Colorado farm life fascinatingly recounted to her by her parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts…tales of runaway buckboards, mule-drawn plows and dust pneumonia; verbalized images of stream-flooded meadows, frozen over in winter, where a child could peer through the crystal clear ic...more
