Back in May of 2011 we bought a copy of 'Every Young Woman's Battle' as we had a teen aged girl living with us at the time. Being familiar with the book 'Every Man's battle' and 'Every Young Man's Battle' we were confident that the book would be solid. The same was true when I saw this book for review: having read the other books I was glad to get a copy of this one too.

The author does an excellent job exploring a subject that has too long been tabu to talk about. I have found this to be a sad s...more

I read this book as a companion to my husband's books "Every Man's Battle." He has struggled with porn addiction since before we met and got married. I have never had a problem with porn or knew anyone who did so I wasn't aware of its effects. After being married for several years I have come to see how it not only effects the person but everyone around them. So I ordered him the Man's Series and I decided to order the woman's version to read and see what women deal with. It really opened my eye...more

Sex is gift freely given unto us by God to enjoy. But because we live in a perverted world; we abuse and misuse this beautiful act to satisfy our selfish needs. As a young woman I know just how difficult it is to remain pure. Everybody thinks you're a freak when you say things such as "I'm a virgin" or "I'm saving myself for marriage". Friends treat you like a social outcast and the guy you think loves you for you is after that on little thing you're guarding with your life. The media adds insul...more

It’s funny how God works. I had looked at this book at a local Christian bookstore, wanting to read it and quite nearly buying it. However, I knew it would likely only go on the shelf and wait for me to eventually get around to reading it. Two days later, I looked at the available options on WaterBrook Multnomah’s Blogging for Books page, and saw that it was listed! I was able to save $7+tax by volunteering to review this book! God is good.

So what did I think about this book? I love how each cha...more

I picked up this book to have as a resource for opportunities in the future to help women. I did a quick read through it and thought it has a LOT to offer, especially for women who regularly interact w/ men in personal friendships or in the workplace. It gave a lot of good questions to ask yourself in various situations to expose the motives of your heart and provide protection. I think it's easy to assume "nothing will ever happen to me," but that's not an accurate assumption. This book can off...more

I think this is a great book for any Christian woman to read. Whether you are married, unmarried, or are in/not in a relationship, you can take something away from this book. This author knows what she is talking about because she has been through a lot and she sets the standard high for the way you should live your life in a God honoring way. The purpose of this book is to teach you to live a pure life and to draw closer to God. I borrowed this book and definitely want to buy it because it hone...more

No entanto, algumas esposas aparentemente seg...more

This was a very powerful book. There are so many "self-help" books out there for women and I really believe that this is not one of them. The reason I say that is, it not only improves your life, but those around you. Self-help books are just that; only helping you. This book wants you to seek our a better relationship with your husband. This book was eye-opening because there are things that we don't realize that "we" as women struggle with. Most of the time you have people telling you that you...more

Thought provoking in a good way. I appreciated the candor with which the author handled topics that I have seldom (sometimes never) heard addressed in Christian circles. I felt that there was a good balance between addressing outward behavior as well as heart issues/motivations. Some parts I heartily agree with, other parts, not so much. Despite any shortcomings, this book is a good resource and would be helpful to women seeking greater (inward and outward) emotional and sexual integrity.

Maybe it's just me or the point that I'm at in my life but I didn't see much of this applicable to me. I do agree though that we measure the men in our lives by the men in our friends lives and the lives we see portrayed in books and tv. I also approve of the fact that obviously there are women who struggly sincerely with these issues and its awesome that it can bring a whole ton of women together and acknowledge and openly and honestly discuss their struggles.

Haha, the main thing I learned/realized from this book: Chick flicks are women's porn! So true! We measure up how a man should act, look, and feel according to how they are in the romantic comedies all of us LOVE!

The description of this book doesn't do it justice. I had put off reading it for a long time because I thought it only had to do with preventing affairs. It does talk about that, but so much more as well.

Excellent book! Every woman should read this book. It outlines how to live Godly lives without compromise. There is a workbook that goes along with it, which is great too. It makes you think.

A good read - for the women who is not having an emotional affair, some of the discussion was too irrelevant. But good understanding of where and how it can start and how women judge men.
Yolanda Shanks
Great Book, which incites laughter and open discussion surrounding sexual purity. Great book for Bible study facilitators. Our Church utilized the full series in all age group classes.
Traci Alverson
Warns against comparing your husband to other men - also warns against getting into an emotional relationship with another man. It teaches you to set appropriate boundaries.

This was amazing - it tells it straight and doesn't dodge the bullet, no matter what the topic. If you want a real discussion about sexual desire and womanhood and how that applies to your marriage, you've got the right book.
Monica
Love getting a woman's view on my struggle instead of men trying to give me advice. Very powerful.

I think there is a lot of wisdom in this book, some of it should be taken with a grain of salt and definitely read in context. I also think that an updated version would be helpful as, while she writes about sexual/emotional integrity from a single perspective, it definitely feels like it was written for older married women stylistically (terms she uses, and examples are a little outdated for my taste). A fresh perspective with the same good wisdom would be much appreciated in my opinion. But ag...more

Though there was perhaps some modern psychology, most of it was fairly Biblical and practical. It's something good for women, married or not, to read to help them resist temptation. Some of the advice for married women was more intimate than I really needed to read about, but I read it to think of the future if I ever get married (probably her "Every Young Woman's Battle" would be more suited to me). Overall it was convicting and a good reminder of some things I had heard before.
