I loved this book (and it's sequel) as a little girl. I thought it was so much fun to read a book by a real life princess (I know, I know at the time she was a Duchess but she was married to a prince so to me that made her a princess).

In my old age (har, har), I have discovered that most children's books are very formulaic and somewhat monotone. It seems to be the same plot is rehashed over and over again, but with different places and names, etc; I didn't feel this way re-reading this book des
