What a great book about parenting teens! I like Smalley's books on marriage relationships (For Better or for Best and If Only He Knew), so it should be no surprise that this one on parent-teen relationships is just as good. While several chapters at the end deal with how to inspire spiritual convictions in teens, the principles discussed apply to any moral standard.

I liked this book. There were some really good ideas for keeping kids on the right track. But some ideas just seemed laugh-worthy. I could not imaging "taking my child's order" or some of the other cheesy ways to keep peace within the family. My kids would think I'd gone off my rocker! However, by amending the cheesy aspects, I think any family could benefit from many of the practices this book suggests. I especially liked the contract idea, because it spells out what's expected within the house ...more
