A very confusing story but was it confusing because it was poorly written? Or was that the way the author meant it to be?

I think the problem stems from having missed the whole hero meeting up with the heroine part. He just wakes up the next day not remembering anything that happened at his bachelor party until he sees his chest and the tattoo with the word "Liz".

He figures out with the help of a friend where he got his tattoo and heads there but even meeting up with her doesn't trigger any mem
