You can't fail with William, even if he does occasionally. Eleven stories in this edition but probably ten in yours due to censorship. Thankfully my edition contains the William and the Nasties essentially about a Jew who the boys initially think is nasty and who ends up allowing them unlimited access to his goods.

My grandfather bought me William the Detective when I was 11 and was my introduction into the world of books. It grabbed my attention and I have not ceased reading since!
