OK!! WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!!! DO NOT WALK, RUN, OR DRIVE TO GET THIS BOOK!!! SPROUT WINGS AND FLY!!!!!!!! J is right!! This is not even close to what I thought I would expect from this book. From shapeshifter werewolves, to intriging vampires, to demons that are helpful, to big really nasty critters from long ago, this book had me enthralled, just like the vampires do. If this is the first I cannot wait till I can read the rest. WHEW!! I mean I always watch the Tour de France and it is on right now,...more

Okay, so I gave the book another shot, and I'm glad I did. This is probably one of a handful of books where that admirable effort actually made a difference. Despite myself, this book grew on me.

Readers of Nina Bangs' (and what an unfortunate choice of pseudonyms) other works will recognize her style in Eternal Pleasure, fast and flippant with no excess scenes or dialogue, but unlike Bangs' other novels, the Gods of Night are meant to be darker and troubled. After all, these are men imbued with...more

"In a series inaugural from Bangs (One Bite Stand), the Gods of the Night are incarnated for the first time in 65 million years, summoned to protect humanity from an all-encompassing evil that is coming in 2012, at the end of the Mayan calendar. While currently incarnated as deadly, handsome men, they have the ability to assume their prior forms—those of gigantic dinosaurs."

I was a little interested to see how Bangs would do with this book considering her Sparkle and Ganymede series is a little more lightheared.

The story line for this book is a group of 11 men who used to have the souls of different dinosaurs are brought forward to the present time to basically save the earth. Each man is given a name after their dinosaur. Sound hokey, but it really ends up working out.

Ty (t-rex) is the hero in this book and Kelly, his driver, is the female. What I liked most about...more

Loved it, loved it, loved it. Its hard for me to find a first book in a series that I really enjoyed, this one fits that bill and gave me more. Nina Bangs wrote a fabulous story with these shape shifting dinosaurs, no they are not your cuddly shape-shifting tigers or wolves etc. these are more hard core love to kill killers, so you get several blood scenes. You have 11 of them they are called Eleven Gods of the Night and they are all hot, their leader Fin is really hot also. You also get vampire...more

This was a great book! I dont really have to say too much because of all the glowing reviews...

The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because I wanted more steamy scenes between Ty and Kelly. (What can I say! ;-) )

I look forward to April '09 when the next book comes out!

Best Shapeshifters Ever. It opens with a prologue--predators hunting, catching, crunching and devouring. Then having sex. Then, wham, the predator is a soul stuffed inside a human and on his way to meet up with ten other predators. The world is going to end in 2012 at the end of the Mayan Calendar, and these eleven guys (Eleven! That's lots of books.) have to save the world from the inevitable destruction because this is The Last Time and if they don't shape the End of The World, it will be terr...more

I just couldn't get into this author. The idea was interesting and original for sure but it was just poorly executed. I don't know if this was a bad edit job where too much was cut or if it was a writing deficiency. Either way, I was left feeling that the story was choppy and made huge leaps that made no sense. Teh average man doesn't fall in love in 2 days, even your above-average man. Certainly not a half dinosaur, shape-shifting god who is constantly battling not to kill everything/one ar...more

Some time ago, browsing Goodreads, I stumbled across a female actor I know of, and I followed her reviews. Celebrities who read! I thought, How cool! It's been just about a total success, too, as through this actor's posts I discovered many of her new projects, including a wonderful thing called "Written by a Kid" (currently my favorite web series). From that, I found the "Sword & Laser" web series, which happily led back here to Goodreads. Following one of the hosts of that show, I checked...more

Felicia Day and Bonnie Burton, I love you and think you're wonderful people, but I don't think I can be part of your book club anymore. I know you said this book wasn't screened, but it was so awful in so many ways, I just don't even. A lot of people found this book so bad that it was funny, but I am not so amused. :/

First, the writing was terrible. There were so many fragmented subplots, thoughts, sentences, and characters that I wasn't sure what was going on at times, or who the main character...more

Oh my God, this book was so bad. I mean, just...terrible, really. And yet, I wouldn't burn it in a fire. What I'm saying is that it's not in the so-bad-it's-good category, but it's definitely so-bad-it's-hilarious. It almost makes me rethink my one-star review, but I'd hate for someone to pick this up thinking it's in any way a quality read.

There were a few times that I laughed so hard I cried, and not because the book was intentionally funny. I mean, there's a point where the dinosaurs are show...more

One word: dinosaurs.

Sorry, make that two words: Fucking. Dinosaurs.

Awesome. So bloody awesome, I can't really form coherrent sentences here. What makes it awesome is that I went into this book wary; how the hell could dinosaurs work in PNR? Well, just ask Nina Bangs, because she managed to do just that, superbly. I'm impressed she took the risk with the dinosaur when it had such potential for failure; I'm even more impressed that she managed to make the idea sound so... not far-fetched. The p...more

This is the first book in the Gods of the Night series; a paranormal romance. Unlike the author's prior books involving vampires, shapechangers and demons, this book has a much more serious feel to it. It too has vampires, werewolves and demons, but it also has something much older.

The bad guys have been around since the beginning of time; a group of nine led by one very powerful leader. Their purpose is to cause havoc and chaos at the end of each era so the new era begins as a mess. They've alw...more

He is one of the Eleven, ancient predators who have been brought forth by a godlike male after sixty-five million years, awakened to battle a group of immortals who are on the verge of scouring the earth of humans. She is his driver. Ty Endeka has a human body, but his soul is that of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Kelly Maloy is human. The attraction between them is primordial but the danger they face is unimaginable. Kelly is drawn deeper and deeper into a world she'd never known existed as she drives T...more

4hrs into the book and I am enjoying the story, but the narrator SUCKS. All of her voices sound the exact same. I've had to relisten to about 25% of the first half again just to keep up with who is talking. There is no effort on her part. It's like someone at the recording studio said "Hey, we can't get Xe Sands or Tavia Gilbert to narrate, so let's grab Eunice from the lunch room and have her read it so we can meet our deadline." This could have been SO much better if they got a skilled narrato...more

I might have given this a higher rating, but there's something lacking in this novel, but first of all, I want to point out the things what drew me in. The characters' backgrounds, which I thought was a joke. Yeah, who would've thought right? Dinosaurs! That's really refreshing, and the part where the Eleven's names were short versions of their species. This is somewhat 30% romance, the author followed the lust at first sight formula, and the sex scene was...how do I say it...primal. It should'v...more

This book was an alt choice from the Vaginal Fantasy book club series.

My boys are big fans of the Mighty Morphine Power Rangers"Dino Thunder" series, so an earlier review comparing this book to the Power Ranger series hit close to home. Was it a good book? I finished it, I never wanted to walk away from it. So there is some merit to it because of that.

The story was an interesting twist to the paranormal theme. It had all the cast of characters: Vampires, werewolves, demons, sorceres, and even...more

"Terror. The black crow of panic was perched on her shoulder." That line? That's when I knew this book was going to be so excruciatingly bad it would round the corner and become good for all the wrong reasons. The black crow of panic?

Only a short way in I knew this is going to be one of those books where, no matter how I hate them and hate myself for reading them, I'm going to compulsively work through the entire series because I have to see how ridiculous it gets. Thank goodness I already hav...more

This was SO MUCH FUN!!!

The geek in me loved the way this read like it was MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS...FOR ADULTS.

Seriously.

SO glad I have the next two already on my KINDLE because I loved this one.

Vampires, shapeshifters, werewolves, dinos, otherkin...wow, everything here, some creature for everyone.

Yep, FUN IN BOOK FORM.

I only read this because the Vaginal Fantasy group here on Goodreads chose it for the month, and also... shapeshifting dinosaurs! It's basically a typical paranormal romance. Ancient gods who last had the souls of dinosaurs (okay, that one's new) have been put into the bodies of gorgeous men to save humanity from evil villains. Throw in a few vampires and werewolves, plus the love interest, who is human but has some sort of special trait that makes her valuable to the dinos, and there you have i...more

Nina Bangs created a very unique and iteresting type of (view spoiler)[dinosaur (hide spoiler)]shapeshifter. It's a really fascinating world that she had created but I jus wished that she had fleshed out the story more or maybe added more explanation to the story cuz some of it didn't make sense. Like how the Lords of Time couldn't harm humans but wanted mass destruction and chaos, like the bad guy was evil just cuz. Or the fact that their presense as what kind...more

This was just okay to me. For one thing (and this isn't the deciding factor for me) there was only one sex scene! Not what I'm wanting when reading a smexy romance novel.

The real kicker for me is that the male character switches from violence-loving, mating-obsessed alpha male to sensitive human in no seconds flat and still the female character gets all huffy at him when his persona slips at any point. I have a hard time believing in a character when he or she undergoes such drastic change in ch...more

This is a buddy-warrior vampire paranormal romance novel. The band-of-brothers-fighting-evil type, where one man finds his mate in each book. If you recently read my review of Darkness Dawns, you're going to call me a big hypocrite for liking this book and hating that one. They are not all that different from one another. Maybe it's because I read this one first, but I sort of liked it. I enjoyed the characters and the supernatural elements were different, if sometimes odd. Dinosaur shifters? Th...more

Congratulations to Nina Bangs for coming up with a completely new twist in the Paranormal genre. It´s always refreshing when that happens.
The book has gotten some raving reviews here on Goodreads. And it is good. Just not 4 or 5 stars good in my view.

There are some leap of faiths you have to take in the story and I´m not a fan of those. To me it feels that the author isn´t quite finished with his/her world building.

The story of Eternal Guardians helping humanity survive Evil eons old is a nice...more

This book is definitely one of my new favorites. It is rare that I find a supernatural romance, a paranormal romance that fits my standards for books. There is actual PLOT to this story, there is something other than just "blah. blah. blah." hot sex scene here "blah. blah. blah." Seriously.

The concept is something that is definitely unique. The "Gods of Night" as they have named themselves are a series of twelve individuals (group of eleven plus leader). The Eleven are the truly unique creature...more

I casually referred to this book as the "dinosaur sex book" as I was reading it, and well, that description holds up. A former dinosaur soul is put into a human body to help save the end of the world in 2012. I KNOW. The heroine in this book is given very little to do except swoon over her dinosaur lover and be told that her flute playing can save the world (I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW). As far as the dinosaur dudes, well. I had no idea dinosaurs were that effing horny when they were roaming the Earth....more

I'm going to be honest here, prior to reading this book I'd never really thought of dinosaurs as sexy. Big? Yes. Lumbering? Sometimes. Predatory? Absolutely. Sexy? Not so much. However, I can say that Nina Bangs has given me a whole new outlook on predatory dinosaur-souled men.

I'm going to say this, and I absolutely don't mean this in a bad way, but I got a Sherrilyn Kenyon/Dark-Hunter vibe off the overall mythology of this book. In the sense that there's something far bigger than what we're bei...more

This was the alt-book in Vaginal Fantasy Hangout in September, and due to the rather unusual subject matter, I felt compelled to check it out. As the e-book is currently unavailable, I ended up paying 5 times the cost of the actual book to have it shipped from the US, but it did entertain me, so I guess I don't mind too much.

There's a lot of paranormal fantasy and romance out there featuring shapeshifters of various kinds. I suspect it's the most common trope after vampires. The hero in this boo...more

Talk about misspent youth. What did I do during those lazy summer days of childhood when I could’ve been honing my writing skills? Nothing. Okay, so I spent a lot of time dreaming I was a cowgirl with a trusty black stallion. Oh, and I read every Walter Farley horse novel. I was an only child so I relied on my imagination to supply the excitement in my life.

By high school, I’d decided to trade in...more
