Ruth
is a Birmingham brothel that is home to the madame's daughter and her family during the 1961 Civil Rights fight. Dinah, her husband Pete, their children Benny and Grace, are living in the hotel while their new house is being built. They rent to news reporters and one mysterious Freedomrider named Angel. They're all constantly visited by Bull Connor Commissioner of Public Safety and old friend of Dinah's mother.
