Okay, okay, so! This is one of my MANY times reading through this series! And I've got to say, it's fantastic!! It's so readable! You can just fly through these with such ease and eat them all up! I began to notice a pattern when my sister first bought this series with only the first several volumes. I read one...had to go pick up the other instantly. Then I read that one. And then I was after the next one! And before you knew it, I had gotten to the end of all the volumes that had been released...more

If you look up 'shoujo' in the dictionary, there is a picture of this manga right next to it - the misadventures of a pretty and talented, yet also quirky and loud-mouthed high school girl who gets a part time job making wedding gowns at a store run by two unrealistically sexy and, against all odds, heterosexual men in their early twenties... it could not be more shoujo if it tried! I like shoujo, but I'm frankly astonished by how much I enjoyed this book, far more than I expected, since the wh...more

This was another grab at my Border's going out of business sale. I was in the mood for some light shoujo manga, and this fit the bill perfectly. V. B. Rose is a bridal shop run by two young, handsome men (what else would you expect from a shoujo manga?). At the start of this series, we meet young high school girl Ageha who has a knack for making accessories (mostly bags and purses) with a trademark butterfly pattern or imprint (her name means "swallowtail"). Her bags have become very p...more
V.B. Rose when I first picked it up I put it back down almost instantly. But last July I grabbed it again and my friend gave me a weird look. Its usually not the kind of stuff I read but I really did like this manga. Its was really funny and very enjoyable. He characters just seem to come to life in this series. This is the first title I have read by Banri Hidaka and I'm going to look into her others. I showed a few of my friends this series and they all loved it. The characters are really enjoy...more
I quite liked her older sister and her best friend and some of the fashion talk. Ageha's relationship with her sister was sweet and I admired her work ethic and determination, but she (and the story overall) were just too melodramatic for me. Since they ARE such quick reads, I probably will look into the next volume just to see where things go, but I can't muster up any enthusiasm for a continuing relationship between Ageha and Yukari and Mitsuya.
Shojo manga for the Etsy set! I am amused by the mangaka's unabashed glee in the floofy and sparkly, and really charmed by the focus on Ageha's relationships with her sister Hibari and her friend Mamoru. (Mamoru is particularly awesome.) Also, it's easy to see how Hidaka's art and storytelling has improved over the years; V. B. Rose is significantly better than her earlier I Hate You More than Anything.

I absolutely adored this book! Ageha reminded me of myself is so many ways! I can't wait to pick up the second one...tomorrow!!! It's funny, light hearted and a fantastic quick read.
I knew the mangaka was familiar but I didn't realize she wrote one of my favorites, "I Hate You More Than Anyone". If you've read it, you have a small bonus for you.
SQUEE! This book is soo cute! I've bounced from Manga to Manga, finding some that I like and some that are horrible, but this is so cute! I recommend it to anyone who has a half hour to spare, and who doesn't mind a bit of fluff in their diet! :)
Excellent art work, I loved it. Good story line. It sort of reminded me of my sister and me. I liked it a lot and couldn't wait to get the next one.
I don't know. Seems to me like a really average shojo series. Full of laces and wedding dresses, sweet as sugar. Probably too sweet for me.

This is a great Shojo series so far, I've only read Volumes 1-6 so far. Lots of sewing, fashion design, & romance!
The main character in this is really clingy and kinda annoying, to be honest.
But the art was nice. :)

Ageha Shiroi's pregnant older sister takes her to Velvet Blue Rose, a custom design shop run by Yukari Arisaka and Mitsuya Kuromine, in order to be a part of her wedding preparations. Ageha, who absolutely loves making purses for her friends and family, falls in love with the shop immediately and begins working there. V.B Rose is a story of love, romance, and hardship. I absolutely loved it and the ending couldn't be better!
Really cute! I liked this book.
Another great Hidaka series, this one features a totally scatterbrained heroine who works in a bridal dress-making shop called Velvet Blue Rose (Hence the title) with two very hot guys! :D The story is excellent and the characters are good. I like watching Arisaka and Ageha's hesitant attempts at romance. Also, characters from "I Hate You More Than Anyone" make guest appearances, which makes me very happy! ^_^
