I am totally excited for Jon Scieszka Truck town series for my 2 year old. That said, I read this to my 6 year old and while I like the idea behind the road signs being the main story writing, I really had to explain about the signs to my child so it really didn't translate that smoothly into reading a story to her IMO.

BUT.. a definite fun underlying story for kids.

My boys love this book. Jon Scieszka's Trucktown series is great for truck loving kids. Eventhough they can't read yet, they are looking at the signs and "reading" all the signs to get to Pete's Party. A quick read aloud, but fun to watch them "reading" to themselves even at 2 years old.

Recommends it for: beginning readers and parents reading with them

We've read a few of the books in this series, and they are fun books for children. But this one just didn't flow well and the narrative based on road signs was awkward and not that conducive to reading aloud. This one is probably better for beginning readers, reading to themselves.

This story is so funny! We loved the road signs.

Cute illustrations- not much of a story.
Super Duper Ian
"Do you want an ice cream? Do you want an ice cream? Do you want an ice cream?" so say Izzy Ice Cream Truck and Ian. The best part of the entire book.
