The little girl that loves and takes care of Corduroy is going on a hike she gets everything together; and tells him he can't go because she's afraid he'll get lost. But he gets in her pack anyhow and goes with her. Along the way he does accidentally fall out of her pack and she wasn't aware of it. This story tells of his adventure along the way and the many people he encounters to get back to his friend.

Don Freeman was a painter, printmaker, cartoonist, children's book author, and illustrator. He was born in San Diego, California, attended high school in Missouri, and later moved to New York City where he studied etching with John Sloan.
Frequent subjects included Broadway theatre, politics, and the circus. He was also a jazz musician, and the brother of circus entrepreneur Randy Freeman.
