Jest to jeden z najpiękniejszych esejów pamiętnikarsko- rodzinno-historycznych. To saga rodu Wańkowiczów od roku 1918 do 1845. To miejscami wzruszającu poemat pisany proza poetycką. Wspaniały dokument rodzinny i czasów w jakich żyli aktywnie, owdażnie i mądrze dziłali tacy geniusze jak Melchior Wąńskowicz z rodziną i bez niej, ale zawsze w myślach z córkami i żoną. Jedna z piękniejszych książek o świecie, którego już nie ma. Każe patrzeć z innej perspektywy na Powstanie Warszawkie, niestety.

Przeleciałam przez tą książkę z prędkością światła. Według streszczenia na Wikipedii głównym wątkiem ma być dorastanie córek autora, ale chyba nie złapałam tego wątku. Od książki odrzuca język, jakim została napisana. W porównaniu z Na ustach grzechu Magdaleny Samozwaniec dzieło Wańkowicza jest nie do przeczytania.

Melchior Wańkowicz was a Polish writer, journalist and publisher. He is most famous for his reporting for the Polish Armed Forces in the West during World War II and writing a book about the battle of Monte Cassino.
