What I like about my fantasy novella is that it takes a few elements from Greek mythology and integrates them into a story about the only unattractive Olympian, Hephaestus. I guess I've always had a certain admiration for Hephaestus, especially when I read The Iliad and saw that he was credited for having created what were essentially golden robots. So for this novella, I took both his inventiveness and those golden gals as my point of departure.

Mythology purists like E.Hamilton might object to some of the liberties taken by McCauley, but poetic license is fair game when it makes a good story. And a satisfying ending to boot!
