Quite a few of my friends really like Lilith Saintcrow, and while I've read one series of hers (Jill Kismet) and am now starting another with this book I really can't see the fascination yet. They are interesting, yes - but there are some quirks that annoy me.
First, she constantly has her characters talking to themselves in italics. It comes off as corny, and annoying. I don't want to know all the goofy things the characters are thinking. I want the characters to be rich in their More...

I love Lilith Saintcrow's Dante Valentine series but this book is in a whole other (lesser) league. DO NOT JUDGE THIS AUTHOR BY THIS BOOK. While the Dante Valentine series is a rich dark urban fantasy - this is more of a paranormal romance, and a crappy one at that. There's no real romance happening and definitely no steamy chemistry (for those who like steamy PRs) and UF storyline is weak. The book is short and just feels like an amateur read. I highly recommend the first 4 books in her Da

While the story in general was full of potential and was over-all written well enough to earn 3 stars, there were some, for me, upsetting implications in this book that brought it down to a 2 star. Most of the lightbringers are female, while all of the watchers are male. This wouldn't really be a problem if it wasn't stressed that the lightbringers are defenseless, naive, and in constant need of protection. Though, I did enjoy that the women, in the end, decided that they weren't going to blindl

First in the urban-fantasy series, Watcher, revolving around four witches with a share in an occult shop.
The Story
Theo Morgan has built a nice life for herself. She loves her occult shop, the Magick Cauldron, her partners, and her neighbors. It's a nice change to settle in and not be running in fear. What she doesn't know is that her nice, peaceful life is about to change, dramatically. For the Crusade has found her and Dante is determined to Watch over her, protect her from them More...

I stumbled upon Lilith Saintcrow's Watcher series by accident. I had been on Amazon and she was a recommended author by several Listmania! writers. Well, I got Dark Watcher from the library and was hooked. The book is part urban fantasy, part paranormal romance.
Dante is a Watcher. He has been sent by Circle Lightfall to "watch-over" a Lightbringer (woman who practices magic - witch) so that the Dark (represented by several nasty factions) will not harm her. He carries More...

My first taste of urban fantasy was a book by Sherri L. King, and I fell in love with the genre. I was trying to find a few books to spend my remaining Micropay points on and stumbled across Lilith Saintcrow. Not very sensual; more of a tame romance under all the witchcraft. I liked the heroine and hero; they seemed to be a good match. Lots of mystical magickal stuff. All in all, I was nicely entertained for a few hours.

An interesting title indeed, magic seemingly set in a modern-day world. the "normals" seem pretty much oblivious and they're only there for backdrop, but it's the start of a series and in this instance I think the second one will be well worth a read.

My rating of two stars doesn't necessarily mean it was bad. Really, it was ok. I thought the story had some interesting points but because of the book's length, the characters and plots weren't at their full potential.

This is the second book I've read by Saintcrow and they've both been bad. To be fair, though, this book would have had to be fantastic for me to give it more than three stars. I'm only reading it because I bought both books at the same time.
The main character is much too perfect for my taste. And while I wouldn't quite call the watcher a "possessive caveman," isn't it creepy to be informed that this guy you just met will follow you around for the rest of your life to pro More...

Not a bad read. I liked the underlying concept of the Watchers being "bonded" with a particular Lightbringer, but the ending in this book felt a little hurried and forced. I'm interested to see what the story is in the next two books, whether it continues Dante and Theo's story or whether it involves more of the Watchers and the Lightbringers who are a little suspicious.

I liked it but it wasn't on my bestest ever list my any means. Especially since some of Saintcrow's others are. It seemed simpler somehow but I did think the characters were cute. I will probably read the next but not in any hurry.

Tried this one and expected it to be a quick read as it is less than 200 pages. I find this authors books hit or miss. I do love 2 of her series, but not the others. Sadly this one falls in the group that I don't care for.

This is new territory for me; paranormal romance. It's kind of like Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Jane Austin. I have to admit, I really like this book so far!
