I took a look into this book and apart from the fact that I do wonder how the author defines the term "Jew" (as several of her portrayed people have never practiced Judaism, their ancestors did, or did not practice it anymore) but it is pretty clear that post-WWII she clearly comes with "there are no German Jews anymore, just Jews in Germany who do not belong" and then tries to justify that by loosely referring to the Central Council of Jews in Germany.
