The novel proceeds from an interesting premise, a nanny applies for a position realising it will be more than a little challenging but goes ahead anyway, (she’s even warned in the interview the children are “little savages” whilst the newspaper advert stipulates a desire for danger and adventure) and one somewhat reminiscent of Henry James’ novella ‘Turn of the Screw.’ Rose and the Dragon however is far from being a Victorian ghost story, rather it is a well-crafted and original science fiction ...more

A perfect job becomes available for a nanny, candidates not interested in adventure, excitement, and aliens need not apply. Wow! What a wild ride. This novel was a great read, delivered on that want ad, and so much more.
