It was a nail biter. Lots of drama, action and dealing with abuse and overcoming it.
My heart was racing reading one part of the book. I really was into it.
Former Air Force scientist Dr. Julia Warner-Hyde has been hiding in small town teaching grade school. When her former partner finds her and asks her to come back and work with him. If she does not millions might die with the missle system that they had developed together being in the wrong hands.
Julia is afraid to go back to that life sh

I got this book after seeing that the author would be speaking at locally and I wondered if her work was any good. I wasn't disappointed, it was very good. Fast moving, suspenseful, action, intrigue and surprisingly clean (language, etc). I couldn't put it down once I started it, it was a fun read.

I got this book, for free, for signing up for something that Amazon was offering. It sounded decent, so I gave it a try. For the most part, I did enjoy the story. At times, it was quite far fetched, and hard to believe, at all. But, isn't that what fiction is all about? To suspend belief, and just go with it? The beginning of the book had a very unedited feel to it. It was like words were switched up in sentences, and because of that, I almost gave up. But, I kept on, and it got much better (alm ...more

This was a very exciting, mystery. I really enjoyed the secret intelligence part of making something that redirects a potentially dangerous missile back to its original site. It not only had the suspense of that, but of peoples lives that have been uprooted and mangled by abuse in their lives. How all of the characters come together is astounding. The characters are very strong and believable. It was a real page turner and so exciting. I would definite read more of her books. Bravo!!! To a great ...more

I would definitely read another book by Vicki Hinze. A black-ops thriller with a love story combined--one of my favorite kind of books! Both Seth & Julia had been victims of abuse--Seth as a child and Julia more recently with her ex-husband. They had worked together on a project and Julia disappeared and was almost killed by her husband. He continues to threaten her from prison. Seth hunts her down for another job and they have to keep a missile from exploding while dealing with the husband ...more

I had read many of Hinze's books released in the Christian market and wanted to see how she did in the "secular" market. I liked the book. It is definitely a character driven novel although there is plenty of action too. We do see characters grow through scars to be able to love again. It is important for those who have read Hinze in the Christian genre to know that there is some language and immorality in this book. It is done in such a way that I was not offended. I would have rated this a five star except it got off to a slightly slow start.
I have never read Vicki Hinze before but guarantee I will be reading her again.
I love the fact that the story covered more than just the main characters. The author also let you into the thoughts of the villain. The story was full of suspense, secrecy and bough doubt and self-doubt. The ending was right up to a nail biter and left you wanting to jump ahead.

I absolutely loved this book. It is very well written. Fast paced. I love how the author interweaves the characters past into the storyline. One of my favorite things about this book is that every detail is well thought out, furthering the storyline.

Nice story, blending domestic abuse with military secrets and espionage. Julia Warner-Hyde, a rocket specialist, is hiding from an ex-husband who gets involved with people who want to steal the rocket specs. She gets help from her former partner, Seth Holt.

I read this a few years ago and really liked it. I think it was my first romantic military suspense. Hmmm, I think I should find this and read it again...
