Ryan's Mom and Mummy are different in many ways. See how their family puzzle fits together! This comparative book of opposites highlights the differences between Ryan's Mom and Mummy while using a puzzle motif to create a picture of families in the new millennium.
A nice idea for a concept book (opposites) about same-sex parents, but pencil crayon style art doesn't thrill me as a general rule, and the artistic choice not to show anyone's face until the final page made for some very awkward, forced poses in the illustrations.
This book is decent enough for describing a same-gender couple and family, but the illustration isn't very well done. A young child would not be very interested in this book, at least from my perspective.
