Why, oh why, did I wait so long to read this book?

When advertising for a tenant for her office/apartment building, Suzanne Barron didn’t know exactly what kind of person would apply but when John Huntington showed up for their meeting, she knew she was in trouble! Their meeting was planned, but their attraction was not. It was there, it was powerful, and...more

Completely enjoyed this fast paced steamy read!! John is an intense & aggressive ALPHA!! He meet's Suzanne and BAM!!!! It's game on (his nickname should be Steamroller!). Suzanne is sweet & quiet and completely unprepared for this ALPHA, since most the men in her life have been rather meek. But when danger comes calling Suzanne finds out just how much she needs and wants this intense man.

I am looking forward to the next two books in the series!! Thank you Kris (KindleRomance) and Vika fo...more

I´ve been on the fence about reading erotica/romantica for a long time, because I always need more than a bunch of sex scenes thrown together in a book. I finally made the jump into reading 'Midnight Man' after seeing several recommendations on the Romance Forum at Amazon and, boy, let me tell you... I loved it! It was hot - of course! - but the story wasn´t just about two people having sex. The book had a plot, and a good one! I only wish the end wasn´t so abrupt - I love epilogues - but I was...more

OMG, my heart still pounds - what a wonderful hot and funny novel - 5 thick hot Stars to this divine alpha male and his sweet baby.

I knew after just a few pages that this was just the right book for me to read. I wanted a fast read romance, something to giggle with, something a little light hearted and a lot of steam & heat. I got it!

We have an large muscular alpha male (think: lion/bull) and a petite blonde sweetie (think: bambi/bunny) who meets. She will be his new landlord and n...more

Pretty good overall. If you’re looking for one of those alpha hero special ops guys who protects the heroine at all costs this could interest you.

I generally liked the story, more towards the end though where the hero became more “human”. He’s a bit too animalistic for my taste which made the steam scenes too rough and raw at times---get out the fan for the wall scenes though (**whoaaaa**). He’s not an annoying uber-alpha but he has his “smack me one” moments. The heroine was a bit vapid and you...more

John Huntington is known to his fellow SEALS as the Midnight Man, a man who works best under the cover of darkness. He's just come back from a messy job in South America, right in time for his appointment with Suzanne Barrons. Suzanne is interviewing him as a possible tenant for her building. She lives in an up and coming neighborhood and the possibility of having a big strong man around is appealing to her. Until she sees him and he wreaks havoc on her femininity. With his adrenaline still runn...more

I'm glad I read the third book ("Midnight Angel") first, or I might not have gone on with this series. Don't get me wrong - "Midnight Man" was good, but not GREAT. A couple of things really bothered me about it once I finished: the heroine was never told of the violent death of someone significant in her life; and the HEA (which I'm a sucker for, I have to admit) was summed up, not in one page, not even in one paragraph, but in one SENTENCE! AND ... though it was obvious to the reader that the H...more

”You need the opposite. Someone yin to go with your yang. Someone to stir your juices. Someone…someone really…male.”

Suzanne knows just the man; her new tenant Commander John Huntington, a retired Navy SEAL, CEO of Alpha Security International. Suzanne is a classy, elegant interior decorator, the total opposite to everything that is John.
”Power and sex came off the man in tangible waves, totally invincible, unstoppable.”

Someone tried to take Suzanne’s life, and John stops at nothi...more

Suzanne is an interior designer who works and lives in a converted factory and she’s looking for a tenet to share the building. John “Midnight Man” Huntington becomes her new tenet…and savouir. Someone is trying to kill Suzanne and John – a retired Navy SEAL Commander – is the only person standing between Suzanne and certain death.

This book…wow. LOL! I enjoyed it greatly but there are so many things wrong with the actions of the hero it makes my head spin.

In reading the book – and submerging mys...more

The first book in the Midnight series by Lisa Marie Rice. John Huntington is looking for a new space for his business and decides that Suzanne Barron's renovated factory will work just fine. A former military man, John aka Midnight Man, is now the owner of Alpha Security International. Suzanne is an interior designer.

Another story that could have used a little more character development but I loved it anyway. A spicy little read with a nice plot and a little suspense.

Oh my freakin' dang I liked this book!
Prepare to be gushed upon!

Parts of this book were perfection (like the hunter/prey scene- I really dug the writing technique employed there- brilliant). I loved the structure, loved being in John's head for the initial sequences and that the author honed in on the sensual romance with development of the characters as the priority of the story.

If anything the suspense is like wallpaper here (we aren't forced into the head of the bad guy and there's not even...more

My lord.

As romance its alright, if you are able to suspend your disbelief as to the amount of time it takes the two to get physical. Basically, Suzanne (h) an interior designer, rents out some rooms to this big, tough, ex-military scary man. Whose name also happens to be John (H). They both feel an intense attraction and have sex against a wall the first night they meet. John also shows his apparent skill with disabling a security alarm with wire and some of his spit. Mmm. Manly.

Anyway. Suzann...more

4.5. Good god damn John was alpha to the extreme. I use to search for these types of books after reading Tom Clancy, Vince Flynn (Mitch Rapp) and Lee Childs (Jack Reacher). I love Navy SEALS and military bad asses and an H that is an absolute killing machine who is brought to his knees by his woman.

I love this plot line and I loved John with his barely contained restraint and desperate need to fuck the h. I love that when she was in danger the H had to save her. So this was a nostalgic read and...more

Lisa Marie Rice writes the best alpha male stories. The men in these books are so tough and mean and damaged, but so sweet and tender to their ladies you can't help but turn the pages at a breakneck speed. I will also save this one to reread around the holidays because like Die Hard, it is a perfect Christmas story about killing terrorists and fucking a totally hot guy. Like Christine Feehan books, there is a pretty set formula, but oh what a formula! I definitly plan to finish both this series...more

I've read this series out of order starting with book three Midnight Angel because i liked the beauty and the beast element of the story. So i had some idea what this story was going to be like... alpha male in uniform meets his soul mate, pheromones get out of control, he bangs her to within an inch of her life many, many times cause this is animal attraction baby (there is a good plot there too), he saves her life and the rest as they say is history.

So, this story followed the same formula bu...more

While Midnight Angel is my favorite of the Midnight trilogy, there is something about John Huntington...sigh! Sure, he's a neanderthal, a bit mysoginistic even, but he's also a true Alpha among Alpha males. I first read this several years ago and when I saw it was a freebie for Kindle, I grabbed it and reread it, forgetting what fun this book is! It's short, completely unrealistic, and maybe not for everyone - but if you are in the mood for a sexy "me man you woman" type of book with hot sex and...more

Within hours of meeting him, Suzanne has wild, no-holds barred sex with John, then panics at the depth of her passionate response to such a powerful and dangerous warrior. I'm hiding my review because I'm going to mention very specific things, but nothing I say will reveal much. My complaints are about things that happen early on in the story.

(view spoiler)[Again, my complaints are about the main female character, Suzanne. I couldn't get myself to like her and I tried, honestly. Aside from the usual "running away from things that make you feel good" and "I don't 'do' relationships" plot devices, there were just a couple things that she did that almost made me clos...more

This was a fast read for me, helped along by the fact that I'd read it many years ago when it first came out but forgotten I'd done so. Interesting that I couldn't remember reading it at all when I bought it, but by page 3 the entire story came rushing back. Anyhoo ...

My absolute favourite hero is the borderline psychotic guy, and John Huntington brings the crazy in spades. He's hot, he's deadly, he's hung and he's got it bad for our heroine. All good so far! Our heroine, Suzanne, isn't well fle...more

Midnight Man by Lisa Marie Rice is book one in her Midnight series. I have previously read and loved the third and final book in the series entitled Midnight Angel. This is my third attempt at reading Midnight Man, my previous two attempts halted somewhere in the midst of the first chapter due to one reason or the other.

Midnight Man tells the story of John Hunnington who is forced into early retirement from his career as a tough Navy SEAL. Known as the Midnight Man to his fellow comrades, John i...more

4.5 stars. Hot lustful sex scenes, no kinkiness. Former Navy SEAL protects delicate heroine from a hitman.

STORY BRIEF:
Suzanne inherited a factory building which she converted into two units. Each unit has an office for the public in front and an apartment in the back (kitchen, bedroom, etc.) Suzanne is an interior decorator. She works and lives in her unit. Suzanne placed an ad for a tenant to rent the second unit. John sees the ad and ends up renting the second unit. He is a former navy SEAL an...more

I read this book back when it first came out and I fell in love with former Navy SEAL Commander John Huntington and the woman that steals his heart Suzanne Barron. This is the story that put Lisa Marie Rice on my must buy list. It is difficult to write much about this story and not give away any of the important parts. John is what we all expect a Navy SEAL to be, dominant, protective, lethal and just a little out of his league with Suzanne. He is a little rough around the edges but he has a big...more

Well, it wasn't the worst book that I've ever read...but it sure as hell wasn't good and I'm very glad it was free. My comments as I was reading it:

59% of the way in: "Hot but unbelievable hero, likeable but easily led heroine. Quite a few sexist statements made by hero and his cop friend, heroine says "they're right". No they're wrong quit being a doormat. Hero constantly crowds the heroine and is stalkerish. Some unbelievable elements as well. Somehow, it's still hot though. Thinking 3 stars a...more

Ok, I'll give Midnight Man three stars because it was basically well written and the plot/characters might appeal to some. But honestly, John Huntington (as dangerously sexy as he may be) is a cave man who despite knowing what he needs to do to please his bedmate doesn't...over and over and over again he doesn't and this enraged me. She deserved so much better. Come on, women (or at least I) read such novels for the pure sexual allure of them. Being told how he 'used her too rough' as if she was...more

To be honest, I didn't really know what genre this book was supposed to because I hurriedly skipped the blurb. All I saw was that a recommended author had a recommended book as a freebie on Amazon Kindle *bows my head in shame.* I was under the impression that Ms. Force writes romantic suspense, and so was expecting that. What I expected and what I got were two vastly different thing. What I read was....weird. Let me see if I can explain.

The basic plot is this: Retired SEAL/Black Ops/highly-trai...more

Fast paced read with very likable hero and heroin. I started this book because I need to treat myself once in a while to a pure alpha male and the book delivered. Even better than expected. Despite the hero being pure alpha he was no jerk and treated the heroin like spun glas! The author exploits the very basics of a man/woman relationship which culminates in a very primeaval ending. Which is in it's way quite satisfying.
I actually liked that the heroin was somebody normal. Yes, I do like stron...more

I really liked this book. It was a nice fast paced read packed full of romance, scorching sex, and tons of suspense. John is fresh out of the Navy and starting his new security buisness. Suzanne is loaning him out half of her building for his business. Within the first meeting the sexual vibes are on fire and within hours they are in bed or I should say up against a wall together. John's hunger is overwelming for Suzanne to the point he has trouble keeping himself in control. Suzanne has never b...more

This one is free today for Kindle on Amazon...1/21/13. Don't know how long it will stay free. I went and got it, because all I have is the PB copy I've had for years and years...

I love this book, just love it. What a man, what a hot story! The things John would do for (and to) Suzanne. Midnight Man and Midnight Run actually run on concurrent timelines. The 3rd book, Midnight Angel is also a great read.
