An interesting insight into one of motor cyclings great events - the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy races.

Gordon Bennett! It all began with the aforenamed American gentleman announcing in 1899 an international race for the Gordon Bennett Challenge Cup for motor cars. It was a European race to begin with, moved to Ireland in 1903 and to the Isle of Man in 1904.

In 1905 motor cycle trials followed the motor car racing and the TT as we know it today had begun and motor car racing on the island soon fini
