Okay, so it's not The Brothers Karamazov, but how much of the literature I read is actually literary?

Night of the Living Dummy II is classic Goosebumps and that is pretty impressive when you give R. L. Stine his due. Here is a man who has written hundreds tails of terror, knows how to make genuinely suspenseful scenes, and keeps it clean enough and nonviolent enough for third graders.

In Night of the Living Dummy II, a budding ventriloquist finds the tables turned on her when...more

I gave this book a four out of five rating because I really enjoyed it and I thought it had a great theme to it. GooseBumps "Night of the Living Dummy 2" had that theme were you never know what is going to happen. It was just how I thought it would be. This book also had a good plot were this dummy comes to life. And this book had a great exposition. From the beginning of the story you knew what was going on and you really get the feel of it fast.

Amy Kramer is a teenage girl that has to put her act together, literally with her old ventriliquist dummy. Who has lost his marbles or his head. Afterwords Amy asks her parents for a new dummy. Her dad brought her a new dummy from a local pawn shop. When her new dummy seems to be getting her in big trouble. All bets are off when she tries to prove to her family it is not her doing.

I was hooked on these series as a kid. I remember when this first book came out and all the hype surrounding it, and quickly joined in on scarfing these things down. They were fun at the time, although even in grade school they had me rolling my eyes at some of the goofiness (and the cliffhanger chapter endings! Every chapter, without fail!).

I actually read this one first because we lost the first one. I liked it a lot. Both stories are perfect "scary" for little kids about a ventriloquist doll who comes to life. It's pretty pwoerful.

it was okay they had a girl involved the parents never believed them but until they saw a dummy talk and move on its own. It was kind of emotional like when they did not believe her.

This book leaves several questions about events that seem to possibly (but not necessarily) disrupt the continuity from the first volume, but the story itself was one of R.L. Stine's most interesting and gripping books. Very well done.

Amy is a ventriloquist. She loves her dummy Dennis, but he's getting too old. So she begs for new one she gets one named Slappy. Amy loves Slappy. But there is something weird about Slappy. It seems like he's alive.

He's baaaaacccckkkk! Slappy returns to wreak havoc on another unsuspecting person. A brilliant sequel to the first book. One of my favorites in the Goosebumps Series.

Goosebumps was so popular when I was a kid, we would get in fights in the library over who got to check the new one out next. No joke.

Chucky's back! As I read this book I kept picturing the doll from the Child Play movies. Not as good as the first book. Slappy doesnt say much to other people, that was the best part in my opinion, seeing what he'd do and say to other people. He didn't do much of that in this book. I guess R.L had writers block or couldn't figure out what to have him say. I think the book ended too quickly. 120 pages is good but I felt there wasn't enough "action" with the dummy. Still a cool book, mak...more

This 2nd triology of slappy's story from theGoosebumps series is freaky. Slappy gets even more scarier and trickier every night that passes. This story now presents Amy as the main character as a victim, Slappy is doing anything to rui9n her life and tret her and his borther as fine slaves forever. Slappy was collected from a pawn shop[ that his dad found and seemed interesting. But Amy finds out that Salppy was not any ordinary dummy, that he comes to life. She found her favorite band poster to...more

This is a quote from the dummy, "You are now my slave. I will rule you. And if you don't, I will..." Now you're thinking it's like, 'I'll torture you.' noooooo. It's "I'll color your sisters room and throw paint on some of her art." What a threat! a little dummy a quarter of a persons size will get her grounded. Too bad she realizes AFTER he did everything that she could just wrestle him! The first one was good, though.

Someone picked this up in a used bookstore. I rather like the format of Stine's books, but the kids were never wild about them. Of course, I'm still haunted by Magic. Nicely creepy, without being too creepy. I totally understand why some kids love them. I would have when I was younger.

I loved all 3 of these books by R. L. Stine.
