I loved this book too! I used to own a copy, but my cat pissed on it and I had to reluctantly chuck it.

This story involving the Great San Francisco Earthquake was a joy to read because I thought of it as a great disaster scenario and to have Jack and Annie in the middle of it was awesome!

I was always sad that the ancient and treasured books weer lost in the devastating fires, but the news reporter and her photographer always brightened my mood.

When Jack and Annie tr More...

This is a great story in the Magic Tree House series. Although it was a sad and terrible disaster, it was interesting to find out more about it, since none of us had ever really learned about what happened. It was a good ending the the four part mini-series where Annie and Jack had to get four special kinds of writing to save Camelot. The ending was less predictable than I thought it'd be and the four items were tied up together in a nice and inspiring theme.

We've really enjoyed More...

I'm a second generation Californian. My roots here only go back as far as the end of WWII but it's enough to have a solid respect for earthquakes in my blood. Having lived in the Bay Area now for more than a decade, Mary Pope Osborne's book Earthquake in the Early Morning instantly brings to mind just what it should: the San Francisco earthquake that struck just before dawn on April 18, 1906.

Although there are only a handful of survivors left (and all of them were infants), the earth More...

The year is 1906, the place is San Francisco. Annie and her brother, Jack, have just traveled here in their magic tree house, on a mission from Morgan le Fay, the mysterious magical librarian from King Arthur's time. In an effort to save Camelot, the children have already found three special kinds of writing for Morgan's library: something to follow (Civil War on Sunday), something to send (Revolutionary War on Wednesday), and something to learn (Twister on Tuesday). Now it's time to find " More...

These Magic Tree House books are good for the younger reader. The premise is simple, two children (Jack and Annie) find a treehouse which can travel back in time as long as a book on the period is available. They then live part of the book they are using. Each one has easily digested facts about the time and place the two children travel to.

The earthquake referenced in the title is the Great Quake of 1906 that hit San Francisco. Jack and Annie land in SF just before the quake starts, More...

Jack and Annie had been sent to find 4 writings that will help to save Camelot. They go to Civil War, Revolutionary War, Pioneer School House and finally they are in San Francisco, CA during the 1906 earthquake where many lost everything to the quake and the fires that followed. They take all the writings to King Arthur and show him that there is hope.

This one hit quite close to home after what just happened in Haiti. It might be a good choice to read to younger children who want to understand what's going on.

It's interesting to see Jack and Annie take a more active roll on their trips, starting to change history instead of just observing it. Looking forward to seeing the theme of the next 4 books.

This book follows the same format as the rest of the Magic Tree House books. It starts with an overview of what Jack and Annie are trying to accomplish and then goes into how they will find the clues. This story is about the San Francisco earthquake of 1906. The book could easily be tied to a lesson about earthquakes.

I read this one with Audrey yesterday and she loved it! I am loving these books for her. They are exciting enough to hold her attention (she's 3 1/2) and they seem to be pretty educational too. I feel like I'm learning little tid bits here and there. I plan to keep reading these with her.

I used to love this series. I still like it, but, I think it is a little young for me now. I would recommend this book to children ages 7-9. Of course, if you are not in this age group, it really doesn't matter. So yeah...read it please. :) Bye.

My mommy and daddy gave this book to me. They were in a little town and there was an earthquake. After the earthquake the mayor decided to put out a bomb to make the earthquake stop but it didn't work and there was a fire.

I'm obviously too old for these books, [I'm 16] but they're like a guilty pleasure. I'm rating it three stars because they are basic and repetitive. However, they're great books for little kids!

Jack and Annie traveled to San Francisco, CA. Annie got stuck in a giant crack in the street because of an earthquake. She got out by building a staircase out of bricks.

I really liked this book because it took place during America's worst earthquake. I loved the courage the children had and they showed hope to others.

I give this only two stars because I did not like the earthquake in San Francisco. It was called the Great Shake. It made me feel sad they lost their homes.

This Magic Tree House book is set in San Francisco during the big earthquake in 1904 (?). My son loves these books - they all follow the same basic formula and are pretty predictable but good for young readers! We'll move on to #25 as soon as it comes in at the library!
