Ar fi prea mult de spus că LeClezio oferă o biografie a acestui continent "invizibil". Este vorba de un miros al mării, de o privire vegetală, un parfum al apei marine. Vegetaţia tropicală exotică îţi umple nările şi te acompaniază în această expediţie asupra istoriei şi legendelor locului.

This years Nobel Prize in litterature winner and I was dying to read some of his works, I got this at my birthday (dec9) and finished reading it a second ago, I really liked it! It was a poetic documentary about the lost civilasation on the islands in the pacific ocean. a Great book about their history and the authors journey there, discussions and storytellings from the nativs and the cruel history of slave trading, rape, kidnapping and destrucions of their beautiful countries by the coloniests...more
Neither fiction, nor a novel or a documentary ... I don't really know how to describe it.
Nice stories about mythes in Oceania and understanding life before the whites.
The kind of book you read little by little and daydream about ...
Os mitos, o quotidiano e as tradições do povo da ilha de Pentecostes (Raga na língua nativa), na Oceania, apresentados de forma pouco ortodoxa para um diário de viagens. E é essa diferença que nos mantém agarrados ao livro.

Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio, better known as J.M.G. Le Clézio (born 13 April 1940) is a Franco-Mauritian novelist. The author of over forty works, he was awarded the 1963 Prix Renaudot for his novel Le Procès-Verbal (The Interrogation) and the 2008 Nobel Prize in Literature.
