This years Nobel Prize in litterature winner and I was dying to read some of his works, I got this at my birthday (dec9) and finished reading it a second ago, I really liked it! It was a poetic documentary about the lost civilasation on the islands in the pacific ocean. a Great book about their history and the authors journey there, discussions and storytellings from the nativs and the cruel history of slave trading, rape, kidnapping and destrucions of their beautiful countries by the coloniests ...more

Neither fiction, nor a novel or a documentary ... I don't really know how to describe it.
Nice stories about mythes in Oceania and understanding life before the whites.
The kind of book you read little by little and daydream about ...

An interesting mix of stories that form a realistic picture of the population of different islands in the Pacific Ocean..
when legends and myths meet history and data, all in Le clezios style..
