Beautiful poetry, and very good for light retreat-reading. The Archbishop weaves poets such as Christine Rossetti, spiritual commentary, and some very striking images (e.g. Christ fells the giant as David did - not with five stones, but with five wounds) to create a pleasurable and uplifting meditation on the Passion of Christ.

"I do not want to know on what anvil snowflakes are hammered."
"Am a stone and no sheep?" (Quoting C. Rossetti).

Not a long book. I have read it many times. Great for lent and Holy Week.
