Tara Yellen has some good moments in this book and I am a fan of down and out bar stories, but this (though I finished it) is not my favorite of the genre. As an alternative I would recommend Later, At the Bar by Rebecca Barry whose stories while humorous carry more pathos and whose characters are more deserving of having their stories told.
This is a lovely, swift read. I didn't expect to like it. I thought all the different characters would be confusing and annoying, but I ended up reading it right through and sending it as a gift to two of my friends. If you have worked in a restaurant or if you just love beautiful writing, this is a great book.
Might not have finished it if I wasn't stuck in the airport for 9 hours. The writing was okay but the story wasn't particularly gripping.
It's about the servers who work in a Denver bar on Super Bowl Sunday -- about why they're there when none of them really want to be. It pulls you in,and the characters won't let go of you. And it's by my stepdaughter, Tara Yellen.
Moments of great writing, but MEH, overall. Maybe multiple character studies just aren't my thing.
