Traditional Regency beautifully written. Probably not for anyone that isn't interested in multiple misunderstandings and personal angst etc, but I really enjoyed the fact that (for a change) there were no 'bad guys' no 'action' no chases etc. This was all about the people and the relationships. There were lots of minor characters, but they stayed in the background as wallpaper.

Lots of romantic tension but only a small amount of actual steam hinted at. That said, this book was so interesting, it

This might make me a poor feminist, but I just love a female antagonist who is just so easy to hate. That's who we have here in Harriet, she's just a plain old manipulative bitch and I need that in a novel. (view spoiler)

I loved Emily, sure she had been in love with Jacob forever, but she really made him work for it. He got the kick-in-the-pants he deserved by the end. (The 14 Emily and 20
Some of it seemed rather implausible, but it was engagingly written. Unfortunately, it's another book where the hero and heroine could have fixed up a few things with some simple communication rather than just believing what had been told to them.

I liked it, the "villian" in this piece I would have knocked out...oh my goodness what a terrible vicious piece of skirt.
