This was a cool look into a different type of novel, graphic novels can be very cool. A lot of time people think graphic novels are just super hero's and comic books but Babymouse provides a great set of graphic novels more geared towards girls. It is a fun novel where Baby Mouse works very hard to get invited to Falicia Furrypaws' slumber party. Felicia Furrypaws' is part of the "popular" crowd, and once Baby Mouse is invited in she realizes she prefers the company of her other friend More...

Before I picked up the Baby mouse book, I was a little unsure what a graphic novel was. I figured it was just going to be a bigger book filled with pictures, no words. I was surprised when I picked up the book; it reminded me of a big comic book. More than that, it brought me back to my days of reading the Captain Underpants style books in my bed before falling asleep when I was little. It was a bit of nostalgia, which was pretty nice. The cover looks like it was drawn with a felt tip marker pen More...

"Babymouse Queen of the World!" by Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm is a graphic novel that tells the story of Babymouse, a young mouse with a vivid imagination, whose life seems less than glamorous in comparison to that of Felicia Furrypaws. When Felicia decides to have slumber party, Babymouse will do anything to get an invitation, including letting Felicia claim Babymouse's book report as her own. Finally, after meriting an invitation to the party, Babymouse discovers that she ha More...

This graphic novel about a mouse who wants more glamour in her life is too funny and cute. In the beginning, Babymouse wants nothing more than to be invited to Felicia Furrypaws' slumber party, thinking it will be the life-changing event that makes her "queen of the world". Once she goes to the slumber party, however, she realizes that her loyal friend Wilson the Weasel is all she really needs, and in the end she decides that she already has everything that she needs to be queen of the More...

Jennifer and Matthew Holm tell the story of Babymouse in this graphic novel. In this story, Babymouse tries her best to fit in and, in the process, begins to lose her own identity. This would be a great story for young readers as they begin to feel the pressure from peers to do things or behave in certain ways that they would not normally do otherwise. This story's theme shows that being yourself will help you realize your inner beauty. The illustrator uses only one co More...

As a kid that grew up doing a lot of illustrating, because I love art, this book holds a certain appeal for me. It reads like a basic comic strip would, with the text inside of word boxes, bubbles, and thought balloons, and is placed both inside these parameters as well as onto the surrounding white space. The fonts are pretty easy to read and the story itself should be relatable and easy to understand. I think kids will enjoy reading about the exploits of Babymouse, More...

Babymouse has such a boring life. The same thing happens every day. She gets up, fusses with her curly whiskers, fights with her locker that always sticks, and wishes she could be Felicia Furrypaws' friend. Felicia is the most popular girl at school and she won't give Babymouse the time of day.

When Felicia starts handing out invitations to a slumber party, Babymouse is determined to do whatever it takes to get one. She knows a sleepover at Felicia's house is going to be the most exci More...

I picked up this book not realizing originally that it was a realistic fiction book. Written in the graphic novel style (this is just one in the growing "Babymouse" series of books), with a mouse as the protagonist, I wasn't quite sure what the book was going to be about. What I found pleasantly surprised me. Babymouse is an independent, adventurous, highly imaginative "girl". In "Queen of the World," Babymouse is struggling with something that many kids her age More...

The Babymouse books are darling and fun to read. These should be quite acceptable in any school, especially the girls. With the pink and black illustrations, girls will quickly snatch these off your shelves.
The main character, Babymouse would like to be popular (in fact, she would like to be Queen of the WORLD!), however, she’s not willing to sacrifice her style, personality or her friends in order to get there. She would be a great role model for kids because she has a great imagination and a d More...

First of all, I am not a fan of graphic novels but I understand that many students enjoy reading them. Babymouse: Queen of the World! was an okay book for me. I do think that students would enjoy it more than what I did. Along the way she tries to change herself to become more popular but ends up losing herself along with one of More...

I really didn't like this book too much. It's not my kind of story to read or be quite interested in. I could see however that kids would enjoy the colors, pictures and the concepts of the story. I could tell why they would like it because there are some cute and funny parts. I think that 2nd graders and up could be read to or read this story and enjoy it. I don't really like the concept of being queen of the world eithernbut that's just added on to me not liking the story.

I somewhat enjoyed reading this graphic novel because it reminded me of comic books. However, I didn't really like how sometimes I didn't know which parts of the page to read first, but I still understood the story though. The story was alright for me, but I know for a younger reader especially a girl, it would be a really fun story to read. I did like the part where Babymouse realizes that she has been "queen" of the world all along because she has her best friend. I thought it was re More...

Holm's used a comic book example with the pictures in this book. There was very little negative space on the pages and the only color present where black, white and pink. I think that this showed that this book is more geared towards girls and not so much for boys. The text was very interesting just like in a comic book, some children may find this easier to read and maybe even funner to read as well. The sentences were all very short and easy to read. Babymouse: Queen of the World is a children's book that I would choose to read to younger students. The illustrations only included colors of black, white, and pink. I found this to be boring. I did however, think it helped to notice how babymouse's life was "boring". I think students can relate to it at the age where they begin comparing themselves to their peers. I would suggest having third graders reading this book on their own. I think girls may enjoy the book more because it is t More...

“What is black and white and pink all over?” The Babymouse series! My introduction to Babymouse came through a young patron’s request. She described them as the “pink” books. Indeed. Babymouse books are unabashedly in the pink in personality, imagination, and heart. We meet Babymouse, her best friend, Wilson the Weasel, her family, and classmates in this first volume of the series and find she is a typical, third grade girl in mouse form. Y'know, when I first saw this book sitting on a friend's table, my first thought was, "What is she doing with this silly, girly book?!" Then, I picked it up and read it. I've been a Babymouse fan ever since! I love the characters: Babymouse-the hero, Felicia Furrypaws-the uber-popular girl, Babymouse's enemy of sorts, and Wilson Weasel-Babymouse's BFF. Babymouse herself has a huge imagination, and daydreams...a lot! She has problems like lots of kids: her whiskers are curly and s More...

Babymouse: Queen of the World was an alright book. It would be great for a little girl becuase the main character is a girl mouse. But I am not so sure that a boy would like it. The book is in all black and white sketch until they are in her dream. When they are writing about her dream it it pink. I think that this is a good technique to use because it makes it clear to the child reading it that they are now reading about her dream and it is not reality. I was not really a fan of this book. I think it is cool that it is set up like a comic book and I think that children will really like that. I did not enjoy it because I feel like the mouse is a little diva and I tend to not like stories like that. In the end I guess it is good that the mouse realizes that she should have stood by her best friend’s side the entire time and that is a good lesson. I didn’t like that randomly throughout the story she goes off into her own little adventure land and More...
