Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants #3)
The Pants first came to us at the perfect moment. That is, when we were splitting up for the first time. It was two summers ago when they first worked their magic, and last summer when they shook up our lives once again. You see, we don’t wear the Pants year-round. We let them rest so they are extra powerful when summer comes. (There was the time this spring when Carmen wo...more

So frustrating!!!! I had some issues with Book #2, but really wanted to see what happened next, so I moved on to Book #3. I seriously want to slap everybody in this book. Brashares doesn't seem to realize that in order for characters to mature, they should (hopefully) learn from their mistakes and their experiences. No one has progressed one whit. Carmen is still terribly upset when anybody has something going on in her life that doesn't revolve around her, and proceeds to act like a very s...more

The third summer of the sisterhood takes place before their freshman year of college. This is an important time in their life and they are anxious for their futures. Everyone this summer is staying in Bethesda except for Bridget who attends soccer camp in Pennsylvania where she is reunited with Erik, her heartthrob from two summers ago who changed her forever. This time though after creating a friendship they pursue a relationship together. Brian and Tibby are in love, but Tibby is afraid they w...more
Okay, Brashares, you should have quit while you were ahead. The plot is thin. The story is anti-climactic. I love the descriptive writing style, but it doesn't make up for what's lacking.
It seems as if Brashares was forced to write this book in a limited amount of time. There's very little development, and frankly, it's boring. Relationships are built-up and there's no follow through. The characters get what they want with very little effort, the events are predictable and to...more

In this book, it is now the third year the sisters have had the pants. Except this time, they are all in college in different places. In this book Carmen's mom is having a baby, and Tibby ends up having to do something very Special for her. Also in the book Carmen finally meets her special someone. Who she laughs and hangs with most of the summer, but is she pushing him away by constantly talking about her friends, and canceling dates to hang with them instead? Also in this book, Lena becomes de...more
TISSUE ALERT!
Well, I was told to have more tissues on hand for this book than the other two. That was good advice. This definitely had more heavy moments, and earlier on, than the first two books.
The author's writing was a bit more poetic in this book, as if her writing, like The Septembers, is growing up. This book takes place during the summer after their senior year of high school, and I actually got choked up when I read the second sentence in this section: "...more

The last book currently in the series, even though the fourth one is supposed to be released this winter. These books read so fast and they don't divulge into any of the characters too much, that I barely remembered what happened in this one.

The Third Summer of the Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants. This book was written by Ann Brashares. It is worth 10 AR points. The genre of this book is Fiction.

Best buds Tibby, Carmen, Lena and Bridget are back with their magical pair of shared jeans in Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood. Each summer brings new and difficult challenges, as the perennially separated friends discover afresh this last season before college. Tibby struggles with the idea of close friend Brian becoming her boyfriend, and their fragile relationship is soon tested by a tragedy in her immediate family. Carmen doesn't know how to react when she finds out that he...more

This book is about four best friends named Bridget(Bee), Lena, Tibby, and Carmen. It is summer and they are all going off to college. In the first book they find a pair of jeans that fits them all. In the summer they mail the pants to each other because they think that it brings them luck. This book talks about each of the best friends summers and their adventures. An external conflict for Lena is that she loves to draw and she wants to go to an art school. Her parents doesn't want her to, but...more

The “Traveling Pants” books are brain candy, although I felt that the first one was more like a good Swiss chocolate bar while the subsequent ones were more like eating marshmallow fluff with a spoon.
I agree with the reviewers who found Bee to be their favorite of the four girls. She’s definitely the most authentic; the other three girls felt flat and pretty much interchangeable, less so in the first book but increasingly as the series continued. I also thought Bee’s story in thi...more

When reading book after book in a series, it's a little difficult to review each individual book without seeming too repetitive. If you're a fan of the series, you'll be sure to enjoy this installment, as well.
Even though my favorite is still the second one, Ann Brashares really shows her writing chops in this one. She reaches out and explores the use of language and emotions, instead of just "This happened. So-and-so reacted this way. So-and-so number two said this." This i...more

After reading the first two "Sisterhood" books, I had to read the third one. I wanted to find out what happens to Bridget, Tibby, Carmen & Lena as they get older.
GIRLS IN PANTS starts with the four girls graduating from high school. Each has a different plan for college next year and this is their last summer together. The pants, once again, serve as a way for the girls to connect while all experiencing pivotal moments in their lives.

The number of reviews of the third book in a series is a tribute to the series itself--it has remained a true voice to girls at this phase of development. THe friends are on the cusp og going to college--high school is behind them, being freshmen is just ahead, and there are a number of crises that are not related to this age--Tibby's sister has a near fatal accident, Carmen's mother has a baby, Lena's grandfather dies and her father brings his mother to their house. But a number of things are...more
This book improved itself compared to the 2nd one in the series. As the third book its not really necessary to read the other two first, but it does help provide background for this one. The most important thing is that Bridget, Tibby, Carmen, and Lena have been friends all their lives. On the verge of beginning summer two years ago, they discovered magical pants (ok so not really magical, but astounding) that fit all of them perfectly. With these pants they spent each summer going through diffi...more
well, meet again with the September Girl - Lena, Tibby, Carmen, Bridget.

Another summer, another Sisterhood book for me! This one will hold a special place in my memory because it's the book I was reading in the car while waiting for Zack to meet me for dinner, the dinner that ended up being our special engagement dinner.
Having made it three-quarters of the way through the series, I sort of understand why the last three books were lumped into one movie: the girls take turns having the most interesting story lines. Now, I know I sawthe second movie, but I ...more

This book is a Sequel to Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 1 and 2. It was about four girls who have to go their separate ways for the first time. They find a pair of jeans who fit each one of them and take turns wearing it and miling it to eachother. In this sequel Bridget is reunited with her boyfriend Erick, Tibby is in love with Brian, Carmen discovers that her mother is pregnant, and Lena finally gets approval from her father to attend the Long Island School of Design.

Review: I was going to give this two stars, because there were some parts that were actually interesting and even a little exciting, but I found myself skimming a lot just to get to the those interesting parts. Therefore, one star it shall be.
I thought Bridget's story was the better one out of the four girls. She actually shows some growth and learns from her experience from the past two summers.

The Third Summer of the Sisterhood is my favorite book out of the series so far. In order to comprehend this book you have to read the first and second., but I will tell you how it goes.
For their entire lives, Tibby, Carmen, Bee, and Lena have been best friends. It all started with their moms when they all met up in parenting classes 18 years ago. The main characters of this are, Tibby, Lena, Carmen, and Bridget. The setting was during the summer in multiple places where the girls went during the summer. This book is about 4 girls who found a magical pair of pants and it is the 3rd summer with them. The pants travel between the four girls and help them with their problems. It is the summer before, Tibby, Lena, Carmen, and Bridget go off to college. They are all going to four different colleges. Tibby is going to NYU for filming, C...more
Bridget, Lena, Tibby and Carmen are back with their famous Jeans in the third installment of this wildly popular series by Ann Brashares. The last summer before they go off to college, four girls renew their close friendship that centers on a pair of jeans they share to keep their friendship alive when they are not together. Girls in Pant is a story about growing up and maturing. It is a story of conquering fears that stand in the way of the next step to adulthood. It is the story of four girls ...more
It's rare that I would find a sequel preferable to its forerunners. In the case of this tri-quel or whatever the term is, I was quite surprised. The first two books were indeed very good for what in poorer writing would have been cheap chick lit to further foul the name of literature, but Girls in Pants really takes the cake. Maybe it's just that I connect the most with the characters, also being in the summer after graduation and watching my friends scatter in their various directions. Brashare...more
As I read this book (about four closly bonded friends)I found that for me it had lots of change in it. Like the fact that Lena (the beautful one of the group)had her hair cut three inches or that Briget (the active and flirty)was now wearing heels rather than her usual soccer shoes. But for more obvious reason was that they had all graduted high school. This summer was about how the girls prepared for college. It told of how each day it became harder and harder for the girls to even talk about ...more
While these girls have matured some, I find it hard to believe that they are 18 and making adult decisions.
Carmen fails to support her mother in an important event. She kind-of comes through in the end. She is immature about choosing a school.
Lena has a job she hates and still can't seem to get over the Greek guy, even though it always seems like she is just about to at the end of the book. She does persevere and to go to art school.
Tibby makes a mistake and ...more

Honestly, I'm probably just a sucker for giving this 5 stars. I read the first Traveling Pants book years ago and loved it. I picked up the 2nd one over the summer, which made me want the 3rd. I'm sure in the next few months, I'll finish the series. I just don't believe any woman will ever be too old to love these books, and I hope one day my daughter will read and enjoy them as well. They are so honest in terms of learning to understand yourself and those you love (including flaws) without...more

Ann Brashares grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland, with three brothers and attended a Quaker school in the D.C. area called Sidwell Friends. She studied Philosophy at Barnard College, part of Columbia University in New York City. Expecting to continue studying philosophy in graduate school, Ann took a year off after college to work as an editor, hoping to save money for school. Loving her job, she ne...more
