While the book provides the basic elements of a screenplay, it also makes the process too mechanical. The checklist-like instruction takes the art out of screenwriting. In my opinion, this book should be read as a companion piece to a more humanistic writing book (e.g. Egri's The Art of Dramatic Writing).
