David Moody fans (or sci-fi junkies) will be pleased to note that he has made this title available online for free at this website until about the end of January. And it's pretty damn fine. Not as strong as Hater, but perhaps it isn't even fair to compare the two because in a lot of ways they are very different stories.

What to do when you're sick and immobile? Why, read David Moody's Trust! All of a sudden, you're 3/4 of the way through, and you have no idea where the time goes.
Trust has a lot of similarities to the T.V show "V", and of course deals with Moody's reoccurring themes of "Them v.s Us". Except in this examination of that theme, there is adequate reason for such cautious segregation. Aliens land in the small English town of Thatcham, under the guise of being stranded. I am going to be honest when I first started reading the book I really had a hard time getting into it. It was a little slow written for me. Usually with Moody's work it is fast paced and has to do with some sort of zombie catastrophe. But this is not the reason why I at first didn't like it. When I say i didn't like it was not because it didn't have to do with zombies this is more like a sci fi existentalism piece of work and yes It does deal with aliens and in some way the meaning of life. I'd waited four years to read this, after being so taken with David Moody's debut novel - 'Straight to You' - that I wanted to sample some more of his work. However, 'Trust' was out of print by that point, and I was unwilling to pay the kind of second-hand prices I saw on Amazon.
Thankfully though, good things come to he who waits and 'Trust' was finally reprinted this year. The reason I write this little introduction is because I think the best, and most succinct, compliment I can pay this book More...

The most important event in history takes place in the middle of nowhere. Perceptions are altered, perspectives are changed. Nothing can ever be the same again. A moment of deliverance for the human race, or the beginning of its end? Tom Winter thinks he knows, but no-one else agrees. If he's right, six billion others are wrong. Trust no-one, because no-one trusts you.
I gotta say....I'm a really big fan of David Moody. The more the man writes the better his books get. This is my new FAVORITE bo More...

I am a massively intense fan of ALL of David Moody's books, so I was diabolically excited for the release of TRUST. I am surprised to say that I am only giving it 4-stars after totally anticipating another 5-star book by Moody.
The 4 reasons I give TRUST 4 (and not 5) stars:
* With the exception of Tom, the main character, all of the other characters (the aliens included) were a bit flat. Let me qualify that statement, though, they were flat for Moody. One of the main reasons I love his books is More...

David Moody you are a gigantic bell-end!
how dare you create such an amazingly fast-paced,page-turning(or in my case, button pressing)masterpiece and end it so abruptly?!
Trust is awesome! I forget the John Wyndham phrase what this kind of sci-fi is but this book reminded me heavily of the Wyndham apocalyptic stories and a little of Well's War Of The Worlds.
I love the fact that Moody's books are in 'normal' surroundings, screw seeing World famous landmarks being obliterated before the reader's eyes More...

After the excellent series Autumn where the subject was the struggle for survival in a world of zombie apocalypse, this time the writer puts us in front of the another subject, alien invasion who is as dramatic and terrifying as the first.
The difference is made by the approach of the threat faced by people. If the Living Dead survivors were faced with a fait accompli and everything it comes down to a struggle, here we are dealing with a passive attitude and confidence in the celestial visitors. More...

As others say, it takes a while before there are any action in this book. But at the end of the book I understod why, because the build up just makes the last part of the book so much better.
I am a huge fan of the Autumn series and I'm also currently reading "Dog Blood" and I enjoy every moment. (As much as you can enjoy scenes involving a begging woman and an axe. Chop chop) I was very curious toward "Trust". I guess I expected more action and at the end of the book I wasn't pleased. But then More...

Back around 2005, when I first discovered David Moody's work, he was a self-published writer, releasing the UK zombie series AUTUMN through his own Infected Books press. Then along came HATER, a book so awesome that people like Guillermo Del Toro took notice; movie rights were optioned, publishers started circling like hawks, and the rest, as they say, is history. Infected Books stopped publishing, the entire back catalogue of both AUTUMN and HATER series passed over to publishing giants St Mart More...

TRUST cements my belief that David Moody might be one of the best authors working today. A sci-fi novel for people who may not like sci-fi, it reads almost like an extended episode of the Twilight Zone. Moody excels in exposing the lives of everyday people, and then putting them in extraordinary circumstances. TRUST is at times subtle, sneaky and always intriguing, with a third act shift that isn't so much a gut-punch as it is a full on Ninja kick to the head. Another brilliant work from Mr. Moo More...

This is the first book I have read by this author and while the story started out very captivating I found myself about half way through the book waiting for something to happen. The main character Tom's parents are mentioned a number of times and I hoped to eventually find out how they met their demise but to no avail I never did find out why there was an inquest into their deaths. The story ends in a manner that was worth my reading through to the end. I look forward to reading more of David M More...

Are we alone in the universe? What would happen if there was a first contact encounter? Will the aliens be hostile or friendly? Would you trust them? These are the tough questions this book concentrates on without any difficulty.
I suggest this book to everyone who would enjoy a good science-fiction book although it does not have a happy ending.
It was a total joy to read, at 2 AM in the morning with some music that sounds out of this world. The experience was surreal.

A solid thriller about alien visitation that starts off slow but picks up in the second half and finishes with a powerful ending. Very well-written with interesting characters that elevate it above its standard plotline. Moody keeps the aliens' motives sufficiently hidden to maintain the proper level of suspense despite the lack of surprises in the story. Even though we've seen this before, Moody makes it an enjoyable ride with his writing skills. Recommended.

I would give this book about a 3.5. I won it through the website Goodreads.com. It claims to be an anti-sci-fi story, which still baffles me a bit. The plot involves a man named Tom who lives in a small town. One rainy night while on a walk, he witnesses a spaceship crash. Not too soon after the ship crashes, it becomes a media sensation. Everyone becomes drawn to the aliens except Tom. If you enjoy science fiction stories I would at least give it a read.

I am currently reading this as a serial release on the author's site (assuming I can last at this pace and not break down and buy the book for that instant gratification - which looks more and more likely!).

I really enjoyed this one. A brilliantly dark take on the whole scenario of aliens meeting the human race and joining in with the general populace.
Well paced with good characters and a good storyline, the author holds your attention and delivers a cleverly twisted ending that keeps you enthralled to the last page.
A grand story and I'll be reading more of David's work.

The ending felt . . . inevitable. Which doesn't mean I didn't like it. Aliens come to earth, and they turn out not to be all that different from us. Had a more realistic feel than most First Contact stories.

There is just something very raw and emotional about Moody's books. This story was great, I truly loved it. For those of you out there who like stories that may not end with problems solved, everyone is happy or somewhat happy, don't read this book. David Moody reminds me of Clive Barker in that sense. The main character, who has the best story to tell, might not have that happy ending. They might facilitate a happy ending but not be around to reap the rewards. This particular story, about alien More...

Great story, well written, not what you would expect in an alien story.

One of my favourite books of all time! It has a restless quality about it that unsettles you when reading it! It has more atmosphere than the Earth and is a masterclass in the art of 'disturbia'. A 'read-it-in-one-sitting' book!
