When they arrive at the restaurant, Froggy's mom has a few rules for him: "Be neat, be quiet, and don't put your feet on the table." But it's so hard for Froggy to sit still. This is a great book to show students for its writing style. The author spotlights several words (adjectives) with the use of italicized font. This would be good in helping students pin point what they should be looking for. It also serves in showing students that creativity in their writing is encouraged! Apart from the italicized words, the author also used interesting word play to tie the reader back to the "frog" theme of the book, such as: leap frog and fast flies (fast food). Re...more
This book teaches about manners. All children should know how to act in a public place that exhibits respect for one's self and others. That is through manners. Froggy show what not to do when you eat out.
I would read this book if students are having a problem eating in the cafeteria. I would read the book and do a mock kitchen so they students to practice how they should eat, then apply that to the cafeteria.

Yet another in the series of Froggy books. I've read lots of these to my kids at school. They really LOVE Froggy. I guess it's because they can relate to him so well.
He doesn't follow rules very well, makes lots of mistakes (and replies, "Oops."), and gets embarrassed because of it all. But in the end his parents love him anyway and the stories always end happily.

3.5 stars I guess...I give it 3, my kids give it 4. It made them laugh out loud that froggy wanted a hamburger with flies. :) And having 3 kids, I can empathize with the froggy parents that want a nice calm dinner out and end up instead with chaos. (My kids have never been as bad as Froggy, but going out to isn't very relaxing with little kids.)
"Froggy Eats Out" is a silly book that students will enjoy. My second grade students really enjoy all of the Froggy books! For this book, you could show the students how certain words are written in specific ways so that the reader knows how to read them. For example words like zip, sluuurrp, etc. are written in italics to draw attention to them.

I wish I could give this 3.5 stars because 3 feels a little too low and 4 seems a little too high. Froggy goes to a nice restaurant with his family and as you can imagine things don't run smoothly but don't worry everything turns out fine in the end.
This is fun book to read to kids. It has a different style of writing. The author uses works for different sounds of frog croaking, pants zipping, water splashing, etc. It's a fun book to read to kids who like to read while making noises.
Froggy eats out for his parents anniversary at a fancy restaurant. He makes lots of mistakes and gets his food everywhere. In the end the family decides to always go to a fly food restaurant. They leap frog the whole way.

So many reasons to love Froggy...this story shares his experience eating out at a fancy restaurant for his parents' anniversary. Poor confused Froggy. I'm guessing that his parents get a babysitter for their next special event.
Definitely not one of my favorites of the "Froggy" series, and I do have some. If this was trying to teach manners, it missed the boat and without much of the usual amusement.

Froggy is back in an all new mealtime adventure! This time, Froggy just can't seem to get things right when he & his family go out for his parent's anniversary. What happens when Froggy's parents have had enough of his antics? A great story that will teach little ones a lesson or two. =)
Froggy is having trouble following rules and behaving. This book could be used to set the expectations of class rules by showing how poorly Froggy's behavior reflects on he and his family.
Fun story to pair with nonfiction titles about frogs, asking students to explain how they know this story is fiction.
Frrrooggyy!
Froggy's parents take him out to a fancy restaurant for their anniversary.

i have had dinners like this with my son
I would use this book to talk about even sequences. It is very fun and entertaining, but it also has a lot of things that stand out clearly that children could place in order.
Manners Week
This book has some things that may help children with there manners.
frooogggggy!
all the froggy books are, of course, awesome (especialmente en espanol), but this one is particularly good because of all the ruckus that Frogalina causes. oh, the power of women.....mwahahaha!

The Froggy series is great. Lots of fun for the kids because each book repeats the same "catch phrases".
Great addition to my Frog Collection
