Lovely! I really enjoyed this book! Though the pace was a little slow, at times, quite a lot happened in this volume. The revelation that Zero will eventually lose his mind to bloodlust thickened the plot and added a sense of urgency. Yagari was an interesting character. It was a great twist to have him seemingly change his tune about killing Zero at the last minute. I had a feeling he wasn't truly an antagonist, but he kept me guessing right up to the end. I still love the artwork for this mang More...

Usually, I have a tough time reviewing manga because the stories are pretty consistent throughout their runs and sometimes it is hard to review a single volume without at least dredging up the storylines from the last volume. But, review I shall since I have so much to say about the second volume of Matsuri Hino’s popular series, “Vampire Knight!”
In this volume, Yuki Cross, one of the guardians of Cross Academy, realizes that her partner, Zero Kiryu is having trouble coping with being a vampire More...

The melodrama of Zero's fate continues on in Vampire Knight, Volume 2. The introduction of a killer vampire and a vampire hunter stepped up the action from the first volume, keeping me more interested in the storyline.
I still don't feel invested in any of the characters. As someone who is a Guardian of Cross Academy, you would think Yuki would be a lot tougher. However, Yuki seems to be rescued more often than she does the protecting. Actually, the female character More...

I really liked to see these characters expand & become more comfortable with each other in this second volume. PLUS that COVER is the BOMB! <3 it. I liked that they got the opportunity to go OUTSIDE of Cross Academy.
I wasn't expecting anything to really happen their, BUT OMG they get attacked & we meet...the "Level E" vampires. That additional level is KEY to the series because Zero has to prevent himself from becoming one.

I love Manga – it’s special and different when compared to American comics/stories. Manga borders on the silly while having serious moments. This one is no exception. I loved it.
Yuki is the adopted daughter of the headmaster of a special boarding school. The day classes are fairly normal but at night a different set of students come to learn and they are vampires.

i'm really liking this series a lot - the writer, with all her little notes about her own uncertainties, is genuinely charming, and so is her work. hard to be sure yet to what extent she's drawing on western tropes, but she's at least adding in a sensibility, a setting, and some tortured characters that feel like they derive from pure Japan. the series is set in a daytime/nighttime academy, in which the night students are vampires (sure, been there, seen that), and i'd love to know if she's fami More...

An "eh" first volume might have kept me from reading further, but since I had already grabbed the next two volumes from the library and they were just sitting there, waiting for me, I kept going.
SO glad I did!
If you were intrigued by the first volume but not totally hooked, give the second volume a chance anyway. Shit gets real. We meet vampires that are actually scary enough to take seriously as villains and we learn more about Zero's past as a vampire hunter.
Yuki is still a fairly boring hero More...

Vampire Knight, Vol. 2 continues on with the consequences of Zero's secret from Vampire Knight, Vol. 1. Two volumes in, the series overall is starting to find its depth, but is still somewhat plagued by an uneven balance between drama and comedy personified primarily by the character of Headmaster Cross. It takes a skilled author to add moments of levity within a drama heavy story. Or else, instead of lightening a mood, it ends up giving the literary equivalent of a record scratch. Unfortunately More...

The Day Class is unaware of Zero’s secret—he is a vampire, and has been turning more and more so over the past four years. If they knew the truth, would they be so quick to embrace him as the rising star of their class? And how will the knowledge of what he is becoming affect his relationship with Yuki?
Yuki and Zero get an unexpected privilege—they get to run into town on an errand for the headmaster. Normally, leaving school grounds is rather restricted. Yuki is determined to have fun, even if More...

I read the first in this series a while ago, and liked it well enough, but I have so many things to read that this one just wasn't at the top of my priority list. Then Kyara, one of my anime club kids, came to the library and insisted I read the rest of the series. She even grabbed volumes 2, 3, and 4 off the shelves and put them on my desk.

Volume 2 of Vampire Knight is really Zero's story. He is a truly tragic figure. We learn at the end of volume 1 that when vampires attacked his family, Zero was bitten and is slowly becoming a vampire. Poor Zero. No one hates vampires more than him. Yuki promised to someday kill Zero if he gets out of control. Now we learn just how bad Zero really has it. He is a "Class E" vampire and will slowly lose all sense of himself. Yuki and Zero encounter such a vampire and it is truly terrifying.

We last left our story as Zero the newly formed vampire gives yuuki his gun that only harms vampires to use on him if he turns into a class E vampire or any of the others if they get out of control.
Volume two is an all around Zero fest, we tag along on Zero's fight against the vampiric nature that's befallen him. But there's something more his teacher comes to the academy, what will happen? You have to realized Zero's teacher is a vampire hunter and taught Zero everything he know's on the subje More...

The second volume of Vampire Knight was even greater than the first. You get to learn a lot more about the different characters in this volume; Zero's past becomes more defined and Yuki's personality is developed even more. I loved especially how their relationship changed; in volume one it appeared to be just a simple friendship-type relationship but in the second volume you can see it develop into more than that, it becomes clear that they're sitting in the border territory between a couple an More...

Yuki's supposed to be cool right? I mean, she's leaping off buildings and standing up to vampires on school grounds but then when she's actually confronted it's up to Kaname or Zero to save her. I hope that Hino decides where she'd like her heroine to fall before too long. It's hard to like a character that comes across so helpless when she's not supposed to be.
There's a couple of scenes in this one that were a little... well, creepy. Kaname's possession of Yuki when she and Zero visit the Moon More...

Vampire Knight 2 was just as great as the first installment. I continue to be amazed with the artwork and the detailed story that is masterfully depicted with such few words and intricate drawings.
In this installment, Zero continues to struggle with his change to vampire and Yuki stands by him regardless of the danger it poses for her. We learn about the vampire hierarchy and meet the newest addition to the series Toga Yagari, Zero’s master who is also a vampire hunter.

This is the second book in the series and it follows up quite nicely where the last one ended. In this volume we find out more about Zero’s past and what happened to bring him to Cross academy living with the headmaster and his adoptive daughter. Also a mysterious stranger arrives at the school checking in on Zero, and he seems to be a vampire hunter and teacher. Could he be coming to scope out the night class or are there other ulterior motives. I hope we find out more about him in the coming b More...

Oke, Zero jadi vampire karena di gigit pure blood vampire. Manusia yang di gigit pure blood bakal jadi vampire. Wedew.
Truz tubuh Zero nolak menelan blood pill, so Zero selalu kehausan. Satu2nya cara adalah ngasih minum darah. Supaya Zero ga jadi Ex Human Vampire, makhluk jahat. Dan Yuuki merelakan diri di minum darahnya oleh Zero.
by the way. Yuuki ini tokohnya lemah banget. Guardian tapi ga bisa ngapa2in. Triak2an mulu. Deket vampire juga malah nervous. Dia tuh sebenernya suka ama Kuran atau Zer More...

Vampire Knight is one the the mangas that make you deeply enjoy every single icon of the page & the storyline.... No matter which one of the V.K. volumes I pick to read, I can never do it with a rush to finish it or go fastly through the story to see what happens next- no! All mangas, but in my humble opinion this one of V.K. (as well as the rset of the series) is to be enjoyed little by little, like a good red wine. Loved it ofcourse, as it has got a dark allure, a gothic-romance atmospher More...

I'm officially giving up on this series. I can suspend my disbelief only so far. I could have accepted the whole Day Class/Night Class thingy if the existence of vampires was known and accepted, but two high school kids armed with guns playing the school protectors and directing the whole flow of the human/vampire relations... Nya, too much, going too far. Besides, Yuki, the main heroine, isn't all that likable, in my humble opinion. And the fact that she looks like a drowned rat doesn't help ei More...

Meh. I can't really tell what is happening in a lot of the artwork and the story isn't all that appealing to me - a school that has day classes for humans and night classes for vampires, w/ a really stupid human headmaster, a disciplinary committee made up of two human students (one of which who is slowly turning into a one of the mindless types of vampires), and some pureblood vampire that inexplicably has a thing for the other (human) member of the disciplinary committee. I'm so tired of stori More...

OMG, SO good once again. I love Kaname. He's mysterious and really interesting.
[Edit: I didn't post this in the last review, but I do feel for Zero. He's lost so much and he is really lonely, but at the same time, so is Kaname. I think the difference between them two though is that Zero kinda makes people not want to be around him and Kaname is (a) a pureblood which means people are worshiping him all the time and he probably doesn't like it, but they still do it. And (b) he's in the ni More...

Overall Rating: B+
Synopsis: Cross Academy is a prestigious private school with a secret. The student body is divided into two classes: the Day Class, which is made up of mortals, and the Night Class, which consists of vampires. Most of the students and staff at the school have no idea this is going on, and apparently think it's normal for a bunch of bishounen to hang out only at night. Despite this, the manga is pulled off well. It focuses on Yuki Cross, adopted daughter of the headmaster, and More...

I absolutley love these, Hint HinT NudGE NuDGE
I love Matsuri's Vampires. They are Born, and Are a seperate Species from Humans. Only a precious few (purebloods, like royalty) can turn humans into vampires, and those humans eventualy need to be eliminated (they lose their minds and attack without discretion) because humans arent meant to be Vampires. Absolutley love This. And the Story, Oh Golly, So intense and Amazing, The drawing is superb as well, lubly Jubly!
