people taking the GRE
I found this book to be a great resource along with it's CDRom companion. It gave me a baseline test and then showed my improvment in several neat ways. Who knew it would count how many times you changed your answer? And then tell you whether you usually change your answer to a right one or a wrong one. I saw a lot of improvment in my score from the beginning of studying to test day. I would say though, you should give yourself a month or so to study so that you can really learn on that stin...more

i mean, how fun is studying for the GRE? but at least the book was very easy to follow, comprehensive, and helpful. I did not always like the way it was set up, with less explanation than I wanted for many of the answers. We'll see how I do on the test, and then I can decide how good the book was.

I "liked" this book as much as anyone could like a book full of math problems and word definitions. the problem i had with this book was that it assumes you know a lot of the information already and takes more time on the complex problems.
So if you struggle with math like I do it is best that you use another suplimental book to brush up on befre takeing on some of these equasions.

People intending to take the GRE CAT
Well, of all the brands of books I chose for the GRE this one ended up being pretty helpful. The concept review in this volume was not sufficient enough for someone out of high school for 1o years, but I augmented it with the Math and Verbal workbooks who went into the actual formulas and vocabulary. But this book helped teach me how to "take the test."

If are going to take the GRE (or just want to brush up on your verbal and math skills...ha ha), this book is great. The practice tests are really helpful.

A gripping read. Truly scintillating (GRE word!) stuff....not!
In all seriousness, I would suggest using this for anyone who doesn't have time to take a course on the GRE. The tips were very helpful and the practice tests give users a more or less true to form idea of what the exam will be like.

This book is good in giving an overview of how the test will be, test-taking and study strategies and how to write a good essay. The verbal portion was helpful, especially in how to break down an analogy and figure out what the "bridge" is. The math portion, well unless you know math pretty well, then it's fine. But if you're like me and need a good refresher course, it's not enough. Overall, the book is okay. It's good as a supplement with another GRE book.

I thought the review and prep was very thorough and helpful. I took the GRE about 2 weeks ago and actually thought some of the practice questions were harder then the actual test. I would recommend this but I also searched through several study guides before choosing. I'd highly suggest going to a bookstore and looking through and picking the best one for your learning style.

It just sucks that I have to use a study guide for a lame test. Oh well... I'm going to rock the test anyway!
